Lisbon to Toronto Pearson is flown nonstop by TAP Air Portugal, Air Canada and Air Transat, in about eight hours westbound. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks your flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting from landing and drives you to Little Portugal or downtown for a planning figure of $130–160, or to Mississauga for $90–120, in a business sedan, all-in before HST. Portuguese citizens need an eTA.
Lisbon to Toronto Pearson: the short version
Lisbon is one of the shortest transatlantic hops into Toronto, and one of the most family-heavy. When a TAP or Air Canada flight lands, the arrivals hall fills with relatives, and the curb fills with cars that have been circling Pearson's roads waiting for a phone call. A pre-booked chauffeur is the calmer option. You book before you fly, give us the flight number, and we follow the aircraft from Humberto Delgado. The chauffeur is positioned before you land, and after immigration and baggage you walk to the terminal's commercial pickup area where the car is waiting. The fare, confirmed in the reservation engine, includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, airport fees, 407 tolls if used and gratuity; HST is shown separately. See our Toronto airport car service page for the full service.
Who flies Lisbon–Toronto nonstop
As of September 2026, three airlines fly Lisbon to Toronto Pearson nonstop: TAP Air Portugal, the busiest operator on the route with around twelve flights a week in the summer schedule, Air Canada, with daily service in summer, and Air Transat, with several flights a week. Winter schedules are usually thinner, so check your booking rather than relying on those figures. Travellers from Porto, Faro and Madeira often connect through Lisbon, and flights from the Azores to Toronto have been operated by the Azorean airline in some seasons. Whatever your route, give us the flight number that lands at Pearson. That is the one we track, and it sets the chauffeur's timing. TAP's own site is the place to confirm its current Toronto timetable.
Which terminal you will land at
TAP Air Portugal and Air Canada are both Star Alliance members, and at Pearson Air Canada and most Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 1, so either nonstop is likely to arrive there. Air Transat is not a Star Alliance airline, and we do not publish its terminal from memory. Check your e-ticket or airline app, or run the flight through our Pearson terminal finder. If your family is split across TAP and Transat flights on the same day, the free Terminal Link train connects the two terminals in minutes, and dispatch can plan one car around both landings. The Pearson Terminal 1 page shows the layout of the arrivals level.
Time difference and typical landing times
Lisbon keeps Western European Time, so Toronto is five hours behind for most of the year. Because Portugal and Ontario change clocks on different weekends in spring and autumn, the gap drops to four hours for a few weeks around March and at the end of October. Daytime departures from Lisbon usually reach Toronto in the afternoon or early evening, local time. That lands many families right in the evening rush on Highway 427, the 401 and the Gardiner. A trip to Dundas Street West that takes 30 minutes at noon can take 50 at 5 pm. With a fixed fare, only the time changes, not the price.
Entry requirements for Portuguese citizens
Portuguese citizens are visa-exempt for short visits to Canada but need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to board a flight, according to the Government of Canada's entry requirements by country. Apply on the official eTA page with the passport you will travel on; a renewed passport needs a new eTA. Many travellers on this route are Portuguese-Canadian dual citizens: as a rule, Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, need a valid Canadian passport to board a flight to Canada. Brazilian and Cape Verdean passport holders who travel through Lisbon have different requirements, so check IRCC's visitor pages for your own nationality before booking.
Customs at Pearson with food and gifts
Travellers from Portugal often carry cheese, chouriço, sweets, wine and home-made food. Declare all food on the kiosk or eGate screen run by the Canada Border Services Agency; some items are allowed, some restricted, and the officer decides. Alcohol above the personal allowance is subject to duty. Declaring never costs you anything, and not declaring can bring a penalty. The optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN can shorten the kiosk step. After the officer, you collect bags, go through the final exit and come out on the arrivals level. If you are directed to a secondary inspection, send a short message to dispatch so the chauffeur knows.
Included waiting after a Lisbon flight
International arrivals include 60 minutes of waiting from the actual landing time. If TAP leaves Lisbon late, the chauffeur's timing moves with the flight and you pay nothing for the delay. If the flight is early, the chauffeur is already there. Beyond the first hour, waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks, and dispatch messages you before that starts. On this route the most common reasons for running long are a big family collecting several heavy suitcases and a secondary inspection for declared food. The hour is usually enough; if it is not, you will know before any extra time is charged.

Meet & greet for older travellers
The fare covers pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area. If you are booking for a grandmother or grandfather flying alone, or for someone who speaks Portuguese but little English, add meet & greet. The chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, takes the trolley and walks them to the car, and can message the family at home once everyone is on the road. The planning figure is $25–35. If the traveller needs a wheelchair from the aircraft, book airline assistance with the ticket; the airline's agent brings them through customs and hands over to the chauffeur. Details are on the airport meet and greet page.

Where Lisbon travellers are heading
Toronto's Portuguese community is one of the largest in North America, and our Lisbon arrivals follow it. Little Portugal is the stretch of Dundas Street West roughly between Ossington and Lansdowne, with bakeries, churrasqueiras and community clubs, and the area around Kensington Market and Augusta Avenue is historically known as Portugal Village. Many families have since moved west and north, to Mississauga, Brampton and Etobicoke, and there are long-established Portuguese communities further west in Cambridge and Kitchener. Business travellers from Lisbon, by contrast, usually head to the Financial District or to Mississauga's office parks. Our Mississauga transfers and Brampton transfers pages have more detail on those runs.

Choosing a vehicle for family luggage
Families on this route rarely travel light. A business sedan takes three passengers and three bags. An executive SUV or luxury van carries six passengers and six bags, and for a big group, such as relatives arriving for a wedding or a christening, a Sprinter takes up to 14 people and 14 bags. Tell us about boxes and oversized cases at booking; a gift-filled box can take the space of two suitcases. Stretch limousines and coaches for celebrations come from vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, priced in writing by a coordinator. Compare classes on the fleet page.
Child seats and young families
Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. We supply infant seats, convertible seats and boosters on request; add them at booking with each child's age and the chauffeur installs them before leaving for Pearson. They are free or a planning figure of $10–15 each depending on the booking. The Ontario government's car seat guide explains which seat is right for which child. More on our approach is on the child car seat transfers page.
Summer visits, feasts and festivals
The Lisbon route is busiest in summer, when families visit for weddings, baptisms and the community's summer celebrations, and in December for Christmas. Summer weekend afternoons are the heaviest for arrivals, and Friday traffic heading out of the city is slow. In winter, snow and freezing rain can slow the drive in from Pearson; the chauffeur checks Environment Canada warnings and every vehicle runs winter tires. For a family event with several trips, such as airport pickups on Thursday, a church service on Saturday and a return run on Monday, a coordinator can build one written quote covering all of it. See our cultural and religious celebrations page.
Onward trips from Toronto
Many Lisbon visitors stay close to family, but the common day trips are Niagara Falls, a planning figure of $345–420 each way in a sedan from Pearson, Niagara-on-the-Lake wine country, and summer weekends in Muskoka. Visitors who have family in Cambridge, Kitchener or London, Ontario, can go straight there from the airport. Hourly charters, with a three-hour minimum, suit a day of visiting relatives across the GTA without anyone having to drive and park.
The return leg to Lisbon
For the flight home, arrive at Pearson at least three hours before departure; families with several checked bags often allow more. Evening departures to Lisbon mean pickups from Mississauga or Dundas West in the late afternoon, in the rush, so give yourself a margin. The chauffeur drops you at the departures curb of the correct terminal. Our how early to arrive at Pearson guide covers the timing by day and season. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10 % within 72 hours, 50 % within 48 hours and 100 % within 24 hours or for a no-show.
Practical tips from dispatch
- Give us the phone number of someone in Toronto as well as the traveller's, especially for older passengers.
- Weigh bags before leaving Lisbon; allowances vary by airline and fare class.
- Keep medicines, passports and a change of clothes in hand luggage in case a bag is delayed.
- If the traveller has no smartphone, add meet & greet rather than relying on a text message.
- The Toronto Pearson website shows live arrival times if you want to follow the flight at home.
