The nonstop Sao Paulo (GRU) to Toronto Pearson flight takes about ten hours and is operated by Air Canada into Terminal 1. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks it, includes 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing, and drives you at a fixed all-in fare: about $130–160 to downtown Toronto or $90–120 to Mississauga in a business sedan, plus HST.
Sao Paulo to Toronto Pearson: the long-haul arrival
This is the longest flight on our Latin American pages and the one where a booked car matters most. You have been awake, or half awake, for most of the night. You land, walk the long Terminal 1 corridors, clear the border, collect bags, and then face the choice of queuing for a taxi or working out the train with two suitcases. Or you walk out to a chauffeur who has been watching your flight since it left Guarulhos, who knows your address, and whose fare was fixed when you booked. After touchdown you get 60 minutes of included waiting. The car is at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area, or your chauffeur is inside with a name board if you added meet and greet.
Airline and terminal
As of September 2026, Air Canada is the only airline flying nonstop between Sao Paulo Guarulhos and Toronto Pearson, with a daily service, and it arrives at Terminal 1. Economy, Premium Economy and Business are all offered. If you are flying with another airline you are connecting somewhere, often in a US hub, Panama or elsewhere; in that case give us the flight number of the final leg into Toronto and check the terminal with our Pearson terminal finder. A US connection may also mean you clear US immigration on the way, which changes the timing. Official sites: Air Canada and GRU Airport.

Planning figures, one way, all-in before HST, with chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, any 407 tolls used, airport fees and gratuity. The reservation engine gives the exact fixed fare for your address and vehicle before you confirm. After ten hours in a seat, many travellers choose the first-class sedan for the extra rear legroom.
The overnight flight and the morning rush
The Air Canada flight from Sao Paulo usually flies overnight and lands in Toronto in the morning; check your booking for the exact time. Morning landings meet the 401, 427 and Gardiner at their busiest. On a weekday a drive downtown that takes 30 minutes at noon can take 50–70 minutes between 7 and 10 am, and the chauffeur may use the 407 when it is faster; any toll is already in the fixed fare. If you are heading to a meeting, tell us its time and address so dispatch can say honestly whether you will make it. Weekends are much lighter. Either way, the fare does not change with traffic, which is the point of a fixed price.

Brazilian visitors: visa or eTA?
Brazilian citizens are on Canada's visa-required list, but they are among the select nationalities who may apply for an eTA instead, if they are travelling by air and have held a Canadian visitor visa in the past 10 years or currently hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa. The US visa must be valid on the day you apply, not necessarily on the day you travel. Everyone else needs a visitor visa. Check the current rules on the Canada.ca entry requirements page before booking. Students and workers need a study or work permit as well, issued at the Pearson immigration counter on arrival, which takes extra time.
Customs at Pearson after a long flight
On arrival you scan your passport at a kiosk or eGate and complete the declaration; the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN can be done on the plane before landing. Then an officer, then bags. Declare all food: Brazilian coffee, doce de leite, pao de queijo mix and packaged sweets are common and usually allowed once declared, while fresh fruit, meat and cheese are the items officers look at hardest. Keep medications in original packaging. The official source is CBSA, and our arriving in Canada at Pearson guide explains each step. The 60 minutes of included waiting start at touchdown and usually cover all of this.
Canadians coming home from Brazil
Toronto residents return from Sao Paulo after business trips, family visits, Carnival in Rio or Salvador, or a beach holiday in the north-east. After 48 hours away your personal exemption is $800 in goods; after 24 hours, $200. Cachaca counts as spirits, usually one bottle of about 1.14 litres duty-free. The detail is in CBSA's I Declare guide. Remember the seasons are reversed: you may be leaving a Brazilian summer for a Toronto January. Keep a sweater and jacket in your carry-on, not in the hold; the chauffeur will have the car warm, but the terminal doors open straight onto winter.
How the return pickup works
Book your ride to Pearson for the flight south, and add the return leg with the GRU–YYZ flight number. The dispatcher tracks the flight from the moment it pushes back in Sao Paulo, so if it leaves two hours late the chauffeur arrives two hours later, and you pay nothing for the airline's delay. If the flight is cancelled and you are rebooked, send dispatch the new flight number so the car is re-timed. On landing, a message gives you the chauffeur's name, vehicle and plate. Walk to the pre-arranged commercial pickup area after customs, or meet the chauffeur in the hall with our meet and greet add-on. Gratuity is included.
Where Brazilian visitors go in Toronto
Brazilian Torontonians live across the city, but the west end has been a centre of Brazilian life for decades: around Dundas Street West and Dufferin, in and near Little Portugal, where Portuguese-language bakeries, churrasco restaurants and shops sit side by side. Many families have also settled in Mississauga and Brampton. Business travellers usually head to the Financial District downtown or to offices near the airport. From Pearson to the Dundas West and Dufferin area is typically 25–45 minutes outside rush hour. First trip to Toronto? Our first-time visitor guide covers the city and Destination Toronto lists events.
Timing: Sao Paulo time and Toronto time
Brazil ended daylight saving time in 2019, so Sao Paulo stays on UTC minus three all year. In Toronto's winter, Sao Paulo is two hours ahead; from March to early November, while Ontario is on daylight time, it is one hour ahead. On a ten-hour overnight flight that difference is easy to muddle when you book a pickup. Give us the flight number and the arrival date as printed for Toronto, and the dispatcher will read the live landing from the tracker. All our confirmations are in Toronto time.
The outbound run: Toronto to Sao Paulo in winter
The flight to Sao Paulo usually leaves Toronto in the evening; check your booking. Evening departures meet the afternoon rush on the 401 and the Gardiner, which on a snowy weekday can be the slowest drive of the day. Airlines generally ask for about three hours at the airport for an international flight; see how early to arrive at Pearson. From downtown at 4 pm on a weekday, allow 60–80 minutes to Terminal 1 and more in snow. From Mississauga, 25–45 minutes. Chauffeurs check Ontario 511 before leaving. We would rather you wait at the gate than in traffic on the 427.

Business travel between Sao Paulo and Toronto
Banking, mining, energy, agribusiness and technology link the two cities, and many passengers on this flight are going straight to work. A first-class sedan (S-Class or 7 Series) gives you room to stretch and a quiet space for a call. A corporate car service account keeps a visiting team's rides on one monthly invoice. If you have a day of meetings, book the chauffeur by the hour: planning figures are $130–150 per hour in a sedan and $160–190 in an SUV, three-hour minimum. For hotels near the airport, the drive after landing is often under 15 minutes, which makes a short rest before the first meeting realistic.
Families and long visits
Grandparents coming from Brazil often stay for months, arriving with the maximum luggage allowance. An executive SUV or luxury van takes six people and six large bags; a sedan takes three. If a relative needs help in the terminal, request wheelchair assistance from Air Canada when booking the flight, and tell us so the chauffeur coordinates with the airline's agent at the doors. Children need the correct car seat under Ontario law in our vehicles; add infant, convertible or booster seats at booking. See child car seat transfers and, for multi-car family days, family visits and reunions.
UP Express or a car? An honest answer
If you are travelling alone with one suitcase and staying near Union Station, the UP Express train from Terminal 1 is fast, about 25 minutes, and runs roughly every 15 minutes. It is a good choice and we will say so. A car makes more sense when you have two or more large bags, are travelling as a family, are staying away from the downtown core, or simply do not want to manage stations after ten hours in the air. Our Pearson to Union Station route and limo vs Uber vs taxi vs UP Express guide compare time and cost for each option, so you can choose with real numbers rather than guesswork.
