Flying JFK to Toronto Pearson, or from LaGuardia or Newark, takes under two hours in the air. At Pearson you clear Canadian customs; TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks the flight, includes 30 minutes of free waiting from landing and drives you to the Financial District for about $130–160 in a business sedan, all-in before HST. US citizens do not need an eTA.
JFK to Toronto Pearson: why the ground leg matters
The New York to Toronto corridor is one of the busiest cross-border air routes in North America, and most of the people on it are working. You leave Manhattan, fight your way to JFK, LaGuardia or Newark, fly roughly 90 minutes to two hours, and then the question is how quickly you get from the aircraft door to a meeting room on Bay Street. A booked chauffeur removes the variables at the Toronto end: the flight is tracked, the car is waiting at the commercial pickup area when you come out of customs, the fare is fixed, and the invoice matches what your expense policy expects. No queue at the taxi stand, no rideshare zone hunt, no surge pricing on a wet Thursday evening.
Which airlines fly New York to Toronto Pearson
Several carriers fly the New York airports to Pearson nonstop, and the mix changes with each schedule period. From LaGuardia you will typically find Air Canada, Delta, American and Porter; from Newark, Air Canada and United; from JFK, Delta has been the main nonstop operator. Porter also flies Newark to Billy Bishop, the downtown island airport, which is a different pickup entirely. Always check your ticket, and look up departure information on the official JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airport sites. If the airline changes your aircraft or airport on the day, update the booking with the new flight number and the pickup follows it.
Which Pearson terminal you will land at
Air Canada, United and most Star Alliance carriers use Terminal 1; Delta, American, Porter and many others use Terminal 3, but terminal assignments change and codeshares confuse things, so confirm with the airline or our Pearson terminal finder before you travel. The two terminals have separate commercial pickup areas and are linked by the free Terminal Link train. If an assistant books you, ask them to put the terminal in the booking notes. A chauffeur waiting at Terminal 3 for a passenger walking out of Terminal 1 costs everybody 15 minutes you do not have before a 2 pm meeting.

Entry requirements for US citizens and New York residents
US citizens flying to Canada do not need an eTA or a visa, but must carry a valid US passport; a NEXUS card is also accepted for NEXUS members. US lawful permanent residents do not need an eTA either, but must travel with a valid passport from their country of citizenship and their green card. Anyone else living in New York follows the rules for their own passport, which may mean an eTA or a visitor visa, so check IRCC's eTA page well before the trip. Business visitors should be able to explain the purpose of the trip at the border; the Canada Border Services Agency publishes what it expects business travellers to carry. Canadians returning home simply clear customs as residents.
Customs at Pearson on a flight from New York
Flights from the United States land at Pearson as international arrivals, and every passenger goes through the CBSA customs hall. With no checked bags and an Advance Declaration completed in ArriveCAN, many New York day-trippers are outside in 20 to 30 minutes. At peak times, when evening flights from the US East Coast arrive together with transatlantic flights, the hall can be much slower. Pickups from US flights include 30 minutes of free waiting from actual landing; after that, extra waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks, and on a busy evening you can add waiting when you book. Message the chauffeur as you walk out of customs and the car is at the pickup point within minutes.

Business travel: Bay Street meetings the same day
A morning flight from LaGuardia or Newark usually lands in Toronto before midday, which makes a same-day meeting in the Financial District realistic. The drive from Pearson to King and Bay takes 25 to 45 minutes on a normal day via the 427 and the Gardiner, and longer at the afternoon rush. If the day has several stops, book an hourly chauffeur instead of separate transfers: the car stays with you from Pearson, between meetings, to dinner and back to the airport. A first-class sedan gives you a quiet rear cabin for calls. For firms sending teams up regularly, a corporate car service account provides central billing, traveller profiles and cost-centre codes on every receipt.
Roadshows, deal teams and investor days
Toronto's investment banks, pension funds and law firms bring New York teams north for pitches, closings and annual meetings. These days run on tight sequences: four meetings, three buildings, a lunch and a 6 pm departure. We plan them as one itinerary with a lead chauffeur, buffer time between stops and a return to Pearson that respects the US preclearance timing below. Our roadshows and investor meetings page explains how these bookings are built. A Sprinter works for a deal team of eight to twelve who want to stay together between meetings rather than split across several sedans.

The return leg: US preclearance and pickup timing
This is the part New Yorkers underestimate. When you fly from Pearson to the United States, you clear US customs and immigration in Toronto, at the US preclearance facility inside the terminal, before you board. That means check-in, bag drop, Canadian security screening and a full CBP preclearance interview all happen before departure, and you land at JFK, LaGuardia or Newark as a domestic passenger with no customs queue. Airlines and the airport commonly advise arriving around three hours before a US-bound flight. From the Financial District, we would schedule a pickup about three and a half hours before departure on a weekday afternoon.
Return timing examples from downtown Toronto
For a 7 am flight to LaGuardia, a pickup at about 3:45 am from a downtown hotel is typical, because early-morning US departures bunch together and preclearance lines form before dawn. For a 6 pm flight to Newark, leave King Street around 2:30 pm; the Gardiner and 427 are already building toward rush hour. For a Sunday night flight to JFK, 3 hours before departure is usually enough from downtown. NEXUS and Global Entry members may move faster at preclearance, but the airport and the airlines still close check-in and bag drop at fixed times, so do not cut it finer. Our how early to arrive at Pearson guide has more detail.
Billy Bishop instead of Pearson
If you are flying Porter from Newark, you may land at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on the island, a few minutes from the Financial District. Billy Bishop opened its own US preclearance facility in March 2026, so the return flight follows the same clear-before-you-fly pattern; check the Billy Bishop airport site for current hours. The island airport closes to the public overnight, so there are no very early departures. A car from the mainland terminal on Eireann Quay to King and Bay is a short hop. See our Billy Bishop airport transfer page for how the pickup works there.
Meet and greet for executives and guests
The standard fare covers curbside pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area, which is quick for a traveller with a carry-on who knows the airport. For a senior executive, a client you are hosting or a first-time visitor, add airport meet and greet (planning figure $25–35). The chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board at the customs exit, takes the bag and walks the guest to the car. Many assistants book meet and greet for the arrival and plain curbside for the return, since the departure side is simple.
Travelling with family from New York
Not everyone on the route is on business. Families come up for hockey games, long weekends, relatives and the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. Add infant, convertible or booster seats at booking, free or at a planning figure of $10–15 each, and see the province's car seat guidance. A family of five with bags fits an executive SUV or luxury van.
Driving instead of flying between Toronto and New York
Some travellers skip the airports entirely, especially groups, people carrying equipment, or anyone who dislikes short flights. A chauffeured car from Toronto to Manhattan is a planning figure of $2,175–2,550 one way in a business sedan, crossing at the Niagara bridges or the Thousand Islands and taking most of a working day. It rarely beats the flight on time, but it can on total cost for four people with luggage. See Toronto to New York City by car for route detail, and cross-border limo service for how border crossings work.
Cancellation and schedule changes
Short-haul business flights move around, so the pickup follows the flight number you give us. The cancellation rule is measured from the scheduled pickup time: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 per cent; 48 hours or less, 50 per cent; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 per cent. A flight moved to a later departure is a change, not a cancellation; update the booking or message dispatch. If a meeting is cancelled and you decide not to travel, cancel the car as early as you can to stay in the free window.
How to book your New York to Toronto pickup
Use the reservation engine on this page or the booking page. Enter Toronto Pearson and the terminal, the destination address, the date and your flight number, then passenger and bag counts. Pick the vehicle, add meet and greet or hourly time if the day has several stops, and you will see the fixed fare before you confirm. Book the return at the same time, with the pickup set around the preclearance timing above, and both legs appear on one confirmation. Corporate bookers can add a cost centre or PO number in the notes.
