Nonstop flights from Punta Cana (PUJ) to Toronto Pearson take about four and a half hours. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks the flight, includes 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing and drives you home at a fixed all-in fare: about $90–120 to Mississauga, $115–145 to Vaughan or $130–160 to downtown in a business sedan, plus HST. Child seats on request.
Punta Cana to Toronto Pearson: the week ends at the curb
Punta Cana is one of the resort destinations Toronto flies to most in winter, and almost every passenger on the way back is doing the same thing: carrying a tired child, dragging two suitcases, and hoping the ride home is sorted. A pre-booked chauffeur solves that. You enter the flight number when you book; the dispatcher follows it out of Punta Cana; the chauffeur is sent to meet the real landing time. After touchdown you have 60 minutes of included waiting for the border and the carousel. Then you walk out to the pre-arranged commercial pickup area where the car is warm and the car seats are already fitted, and you are on the 427 while the taxi line is still growing.
Airlines on the Punta Cana–Toronto route
As of September 2026, route listings show nonstop Punta Cana–Toronto Pearson flights on WestJet, Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair Airlines and the Dominican carrier Arajet, with WestJet, Air Canada and Air Transat running the most frequencies. Schedules climb in December and fall back after Easter, and tour-operator packages can move you between carriers, so check your booking for the operating airline. Air Canada arrives at Terminal 1 and WestJet at Terminal 3; for Air Transat, Flair and Arajet, confirm with the Pearson terminal finder. Airline sites: WestJet, Air Transat, Flair. Departure airport: Punta Cana International.

Planning figures, one way, all-in before HST. They include the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, any 407 tolls the chauffeur uses, airport fees and gratuity. The reservation engine shows the exact fixed fare for your address and vehicle before you pay. Planning a family trip? The executive SUV service is the usual choice for four people and four big bags.
Tired kids and car seats
Resort weeks end with children who were up at 5 am for the hotel shuttle and asleep before the aircraft reached cruising altitude. Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. That means you carry the sleeping child from the curb straight into a seat that is already installed and belted, not into a taxi where toddlers ride on laps because taxis are exempt from the rule. Our child car seat transfers page lists the seat types and ages, and Ontario's car seat rules are the legal source.

Customs for returning Canadians
After the Punta Cana flight everyone clears Canada Border Services at Pearson. You scan your passport at a kiosk or eGate, answer the declaration (or use the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN), see an officer and collect bags. After 48 hours abroad your duty-free allowance is $800 in goods; after 24 hours it is $200. Dominican rum, cigars, coffee and larimar jewellery all count; alcohol and tobacco have their own separate limits. Cigars are a common surprise: the 48-hour allowance covers a limited number, and the rest is taxed. The rules are in CBSA's I Declare guide. Our customs at Pearson guide explains the process in order.
The January landing
The Dominican Republic stays on Atlantic Standard Time all year, one hour ahead of Toronto in winter and level with Toronto in summer. That hour matters when you book: a flight that leaves Punta Cana at 3 pm local time in February lands at Pearson in Toronto's early evening, when the temperature can be well below zero. The chauffeur pre-warms the car, and in snow will have brushed it off before you come out. If your winter coat is at home, pack a fleece in your carry-on for the fifty steps from the doors to the curb. If a winter storm is forecast, dispatch will already be watching; you do not need to call us to confirm.
How the return pickup works
You can book the return any time, but most families book both legs together: the early run to Pearson on departure day and the pickup a week later. The return is tied to your PUJ–YYZ flight number. If the aircraft leaves Punta Cana late, the chauffeur's arrival moves with it and you are not charged for the delay. If the airline cancels and rebooks you, message dispatch with the new flight number so the car is re-timed. When you land, a message tells you the chauffeur's name, car and plate. After customs, walk to the pre-arranged commercial pickup area or, if you added airport meet and greet, look for the name board inside arrivals.
Visitors from the Dominican Republic
Dominican citizens need a Canadian visitor visa to travel to Canada; as of September 2026 the Dominican Republic is not on the list of countries whose citizens may use an eTA instead. Apply well ahead, since biometrics are usually required. Check the current rules on the Canada.ca entry requirements page and, for general eTA questions, the eTA page. Dominican visitors to Toronto are usually here for family, for study or for work, and they spread across the GTA rather than one neighbourhood. If a relative is flying up for the first time, meet and greet puts a chauffeur with a name board inside the arrivals hall; the dispatch desk keeps its messages short and clear for travellers whose first language is Spanish.
Outbound: leaving Toronto for Punta Cana in winter
Most sun flights south leave in the morning. Airlines generally want international passengers at the airport about three hours before departure, and charter desks close on time; see our how early to arrive at Pearson guide and follow your airline's rule. From Vaughan or Etobicoke allow 25–40 minutes to the terminal; from Richmond Hill or Newmarket, 40–70 minutes via the 400 and 401 or the 407. Add 20–30 minutes if snow is forecast. The chauffeur checks Ontario 511 before leaving. For a 7 am departure from Newmarket that usually means a pickup around 3 am. Put the passports in the carry-on the night before.

When the bags take their time
Charter-heavy arrival banks can slow the carousels. You do not need to rush: the 60 included minutes run from touchdown and usually cover a normal wait. If your bag is missing, report it at the airline's baggage desk inside the hall before you leave the customs area; once you exit you may not be allowed back in. Message dispatch and the chauffeur will wait. Time beyond the included 60 minutes is billed in 15-minute blocks, only as used. Airlines usually deliver delayed bags to your home, so there is no need to return to Pearson. Keep your bag tags until the case is back in your hands.
Destination weddings and group returns
Punta Cana weddings bring whole families home on the same flight. A Sprinter seats up to 14 with their bags and can drop at several addresses on one run; give us the order and it will be sequenced sensibly, west to east or north to south. Two executive SUVs can be better if half the group lives in Milton and half in Richmond Hill. If the couple wants to arrive at a homecoming party in style, a stretch limousine or Rolls-Royce can be arranged through vetted partner operators, priced in writing by a coordinator. For large groups, see Sprinter group transportation.
Seniors and assistance at Pearson
For grandparents or anyone with limited mobility, request airline assistance when booking the flight. The airline's agent meets the aircraft, helps through customs and baggage, and brings the passenger to the doors. Tell us at booking so the chauffeur coordinates with the agent at the pickup area. A luxury van with a lower step is kinder than a high SUV after a long flight. For passengers who travel in their own wheelchair, see wheelchair-accessible transfers. Everyone else just needs to know that the car is waiting and the fare is settled.
Airport parking versus a booked return
A lot of families drive themselves to Pearson for a sun week and park. It works, but add up the whole cost: a week or more of parking, fuel, the 407 if you use it, and then the part nobody budgets for, which is driving home at night after a four-and-a-half-hour flight, tired, with children asleep in the back and possibly snow on the car you left in an open lot. A booked chauffeur for both legs is a fixed number you know in advance. You also avoid the shuttle from the parking lot to the terminal with every bag. The fare calculator gives you the planning figure for both legs so you can compare honestly.
Taxi and rideshare after a charter landing
Pearson's taxis and limousines run from the stands at zone-based flat rates, and rideshare pickups are at designated zones near the terminal doors. They are real options. Their weakness shows on a winter evening when several resort flights land together and the queues build, and for families, because taxis do not have to provide car seats. If you would rather compare every option side by side, our limo vs Uber vs taxi vs UP Express guide lays out cost, time and comfort without spin.
Practical tips for the Punta Cana return
- Book with the flight number; that is what dispatch tracks.
- Keep an eye on the cigar and rum allowances before the airport duty-free shop.
- Pack a fleece and socks in the carry-on between November and April.
- Charge your phone at the gate; the chauffeur's message arrives after landing.
- Add every child seat you need at booking, not at the curb.
- Planning next winter? The travel desk books all-inclusive packages and flights.
