Athens to Toronto Pearson is flown nonstop by Air Canada and Air Transat, mainly in the busier seasons, in roughly ten and a half to eleven hours. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks the flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting from landing and drives you to Greektown on the Danforth or downtown for a planning figure of $130–160 in a business sedan, all-in before HST. Greek citizens need an eTA.
Athens to Toronto Pearson: how the pickup works
Athens is one of the longer European flights into Pearson, and by the time you reach the arrivals hall you have been travelling most of a day. A pre-booked private car means the last step is easy. You book before you fly, enter the flight number, and the dispatcher follows the aircraft from Eleftherios Venizelos. The chauffeur is in position near the terminal's commercial pickup area before you land, and messages you the exact meeting point. The fare you saw in the reservation engine covers the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, airport fees, any 407 tolls and gratuity, with HST shown separately. There is no meter, no surge price and no queue. The underlying service is described on our Pearson airport limo page.
Airlines on the Athens–Toronto route
As of September 2026, the nonstop options between Athens and Toronto are Air Canada and Air Transat, both flying Boeing 787 aircraft on the route. Service is strongest from spring to autumn, when Air Canada has flown it many times a week and Air Transat several times; winter service is reduced or seasonal, so check your booking. Aegean Airlines sells Athens–Toronto itineraries with a connection, and many travellers from Thessaloniki, Crete and the islands connect through Athens or another European hub. For the transfer, we need the flight number of the leg that lands at Pearson; delays on earlier legs are then automatically reflected in the chauffeur's timing.
Which Pearson terminal to expect
Air Canada and most Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 1 at Pearson, so an Air Canada nonstop from Athens will normally arrive there. Air Transat is not a Star Alliance carrier, and rather than guess, we ask you to check your boarding pass or airline app, or enter the flight number in our Pearson terminal finder. If relatives arrive on two different airlines, the free Terminal Link train connects the terminals and one chauffeur can wait for both. Our Terminal 1 vs Terminal 3 guide explains the two buildings from a passenger's point of view.
Time difference and landing times
Athens is on Eastern European Time, so Toronto is seven hours behind for most of the year and six hours behind for a few weeks in March and at the end of October, when Europe and Ontario change their clocks on different weekends. Daytime flights from Athens usually land in Toronto in the afternoon or evening, local time, when your body clock is somewhere past midnight. Afternoon landings meet Toronto's rush hour on the 427, the 401 and the Don Valley Parkway, which matters for a trip to the Danforth in the east end. At midday the drive is often 35 minutes; at 5:30 pm it can be an hour. The booked fare stays the same.
Entry requirements for Greek citizens
Greek citizens are visa-exempt for short visits to Canada but, according to the Government of Canada's entry requirements, need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to board a flight. Apply on the official eTA page, using the passport you will travel with. Many travellers on this route are Greek-Canadian dual citizens, and as a rule Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, need a valid Canadian passport to fly to Canada. Travellers from Cyprus, the Balkans or elsewhere who connect in Athens should check IRCC's visitor pages for their own nationality, because requirements vary widely.
Customs at Pearson
After landing, follow the Canada Customs signs to the self-serve kiosks or eGates of the Canada Border Services Agency. The optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN can make that step faster. Declare all food: olive oil, cheese, honey, cured meats and home-made sweets may be allowed, restricted or refused, and the officer decides. After you speak with an officer, collect your bags and follow signs out to the arrivals level. A typical passage is 30 to 60 minutes; peak times, when several widebodies land within minutes of each other, take longer. The included hour of waiting is built around that.
The included 60-minute wait
On every international arrival, waiting time starts when the aircraft actually lands, and the first 60 minutes are included. A late departure from Athens is covered: the chauffeur's timing moves with the flight and you pay nothing extra. After the first hour, waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks, and dispatch messages you before that begins. Long-haul routes like this one see more missed bags from connections; if yours does not arrive, report it at the airline's baggage desk, then let dispatch know how long you expect to be.

Meet & greet in the arrivals hall
Standard pickup is at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area. If you are bringing parents or grandparents over from Greece, or a first-time visitor who would find the airport confusing after an eleven-hour flight, add meet & greet. The chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, helps with bags and walks them to the car, and can message the family in Toronto once they are on the road. The planning figure is $25–35. Arrange airline wheelchair assistance separately if needed; the airline's agent will bring the traveller through customs to the chauffeur. See our meet and greet page.

Where Athens travellers head: Greektown and beyond
Greektown on the Danforth, along Danforth Avenue between roughly Chester and Jones in Toronto's east end, is the historic heart of the city's Greek community, with tavernas, bakeries, cafés and churches; the local business association's Greektown Toronto site lists what is on. Many Greek-Canadian families have since settled further out, in East York, Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga, and our Scarborough transfers page covers the drive east in detail. Tourists coming from Athens usually stay downtown and spend at least one evening on the Danforth. Business travellers split between the Financial District and the offices near the airport.

Driving to the Danforth: the route the chauffeur takes
From Pearson to Greektown, the chauffeur usually chooses between two routes depending on the time of day. Outside rush hour, Highway 401 east to the Don Valley Parkway south, then off at Bloor or the Danforth, is typically the quickest. When the 401 is jammed, the alternative is the 427 south to the Gardiner, then the Don Valley Parkway north to the Bloor Street viaduct. The chauffeur checks live traffic before leaving Pearson and picks the faster option; you will not pay more for a longer route, because the fare is fixed. If you are staying with family on a narrow residential street off the Danforth, tell us, and the chauffeur will stop where it is safe to unload several heavy cases.
Choosing the right vehicle
A business sedan carries three passengers with three bags, which suits a couple. Families visiting for a month, with gifts, usually need an executive SUV or luxury van with room for six passengers and six bags. For a large family group or a wedding party on the same flight, a Sprinter carries up to 14 people and 14 bags. Stretch limousines and coaches for weddings, name-day parties and other celebrations are supplied by vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, and a coordinator prices those in writing. Compare every class on the fleet page.
Children and car seats
If you are travelling with young children, add car seats at booking. Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. We provide infant, convertible and booster seats on request, free or a planning figure of $10–15 each, installed before the chauffeur leaves for Pearson. The province's car seat guide explains which seat suits which child. Our child car seat transfers page has more.
Seasons on the Athens route
Summer is the busy season in both directions, with Greek families visiting Toronto and Greek-Canadians heading to the islands. Easter is another peak, especially when Orthodox Easter falls on a different date from Western Easter and families travel for both. In summer, allow for slow Friday traffic on the DVP and the Gardiner. In winter, when nonstop service is thinner and connections are more common, snow and freezing rain can slow the drive in; the chauffeur checks Environment Canada warnings and all our vehicles run winter tires. Delays change the time in the car, never the booked price.
Onward trips from Toronto
Once settled, many visitors from Athens want to see Niagara Falls, a planning figure of $345–420 each way in a sedan from Pearson, or the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Summer brings trips to Muskoka and the cottage country north of the city. Families with relatives in Montreal often continue east; we drive that as a long-distance transfer. For several stops in one day, book an hourly charter with a three-hour minimum.
Flying home to Athens
Allow at least three hours at Pearson for the international departure, more at Easter and in July and August when check-in lines are long. From the Danforth or Scarborough, an evening departure usually means leaving in the rush, so book the pickup with a comfortable margin. The chauffeur drops you at the correct terminal's departures curb. Read our how early to arrive at Pearson guide for timings. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, then 10 % within 72 hours, 50 % within 48 hours and 100 % within 24 hours or for a no-show.
Practical tips for an Athens arrival
