Flights from Montego Bay's Sangster International (MBJ) reach Toronto Pearson in roughly four hours. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks your flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting from actual landing and drives you at a fixed all-in fare: about $100–130 to Brampton, $145–175 to Scarborough or $130–160 to downtown in a business sedan, plus HST.

Montego Bay to Toronto Pearson: two kinds of passenger

The MBJ flight carries two very different groups. One is Toronto residents coming home from a week in Negril, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, sunburnt and dreading the cold. The other is Jamaicans and Jamaican-Canadians travelling for family: grandparents arriving for a long winter stay, cousins coming up for a wedding, students returning to college, relatives flying home after a funeral or a homecoming. Both want the same thing at Pearson, which is someone reliable waiting at the right door with a car big enough for the luggage. That is what this page is about: the flight, the terminal, customs, the drive and the price, so the last hour of the journey is the easy one.

Airlines flying Montego Bay to Toronto

As of September 2026, Air Canada, WestJet and Air Transat fly Montego Bay to Toronto Pearson nonstop. Porter Airlines has announced Toronto Pearson–Montego Bay service starting 23 November 2026, and Flair Airlines is also listed on the route for the winter season. Winter schedules are much busier than summer, so check your booking for the operating carrier. Air Canada uses Terminal 1; WestJet and Porter use Terminal 3. For Air Transat, Flair or a tour-operator charter, confirm with the Pearson terminal finder. Airline sites: Air Canada, WestJet, Porter. The departure airport is Sangster International.

Terminal, customs and the walk out

Once you land, follow the Arrivals signs to Canada Border Services. Kiosks or eGates scan your passport and take your declaration; an optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN saves a minute. Then the officer, then the carousel. Declare all food. Jamaican luggage is often full of it: patties, hard dough bread, spices, jerk seasoning, sorrel, sometimes fruit. Packaged and cooked goods are usually allowed once declared; fresh produce and meat are the items most often refused. The officer has the final word, and the CBSA site is the official reference. Our guide to arriving in Canada at Pearson explains the hall from the aircraft door to the exit.

Visitors from Jamaica: you need a visitor visa

Jamaican citizens are visa-required for Canada and, as of September 2026, Jamaica is not on the list of countries whose citizens can use an eTA instead. That means a Canadian visitor visa (temporary resident visa) in your passport before you fly, usually with biometrics given in advance. Check the current requirements on the Canada.ca entry requirements page; they are IRCC's rules, not the airline's. Jamaican citizens who are permanent residents of Canada travel on their PR card or PR travel document instead. If you are hosting a relative who is visiting for the first time, add our meet and greet so a chauffeur with a name board is standing inside arrivals when they come through.

Canadians coming home from Jamaica in winter

Toronto residents coming back from an all-inclusive in January or February know the scene: the doors slide open and the wind comes off the parking structures. Our chauffeur runs the heater before you come out, clears snow off the car and loads the bags so you can get straight in. If you packed light and left your coat at home, keep a sweater and a toque in your carry-on for the walk to the curb. Personal exemptions are $800 of goods after 48 hours away and $200 after 24 hours; rum counts toward your alcohol allowance, usually one of about 1.14 litres of spirits, 1.5 litres of wine or 24 cans of beer. Details are in CBSA's I Declare guide.

Your return pickup, step by step

  1. When you book the ride to Pearson for your departure, add the return with your MBJ–YYZ flight number.
  2. The dispatcher tracks that flight from Montego Bay; if it is late, the chauffeur's arrival moves with it at no charge to you.
  3. On landing, you get a message with the chauffeur's name, vehicle and plate.
  4. You clear customs and baggage within the 60 included minutes, and walk to the pre-arranged commercial pickup area, or meet the chauffeur inside if you added meet and greet.
  5. The fare was fixed at booking; HST is shown separately and gratuity is already included.

Waiting beyond 60 minutes is billed in 15-minute blocks, only if used.

Little Jamaica, Malton, Brampton and Scarborough

Toronto's Jamaican community is one of the largest outside Jamaica, and a lot of our MBJ pickups end at family homes rather than hotels. Eglinton Avenue West around Oakwood Avenue is known as Little Jamaica, with bakeries, record shops and restaurants along the strip. Malton, right beside Pearson in Mississauga, and much of Brampton are home to large Caribbean communities, as are parts of Scarborough, Ajax and Pickering. The drive to Malton is often under 15 minutes; Scarborough can be 35–60 depending on the 401. Give us the exact address and any buzzer code so the chauffeur can take grandma's suitcase all the way to the door.

Carnival season and summer visits

Summer is the other peak on this route. Visitors come up for family events and for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, which usually runs through July and ends with the Grand Parade on the Civic Holiday weekend in early August; check dates on the official Carnival site. That weekend Pearson is busy, hotels near the Lakeshore fill up and road closures around Exhibition Place change the downtown drive. Book your arrival pickup early and let us plan the route. Our Caribbean Carnival transport page covers getting to the parade and back, and family visits and reunions covers multi-car days.

Grandparents, wheelchairs and big suitcases

Many older relatives on this route travel with airline wheelchair assistance. Request it when you book the flight; the airline's agent brings the passenger through the border and baggage to the doors. Tell us at booking, and the chauffeur will meet the agent at the commercial pickup area or, with meet and greet, inside the hall. A luxury van with a lower step is easier to climb into than a tall SUV. Luggage on this route runs large: two 23 kg cases per person is common. An executive SUV or luxury van takes six large bags; a sedan takes three. For full wheelchair-accessible vehicles, see wheelchair-accessible transfers.

Timing: Jamaica time and Toronto time

Jamaica stays on Eastern Standard Time all year and does not use daylight saving time. In winter, Montego Bay and Toronto show the same clock time; from March to November, Montego Bay is one hour behind Toronto. When you book the return pickup, give us the flight number and the date in Toronto time; the dispatcher reads the live landing from the flight tracker, so a mix-up on the clock will not leave you stranded. If you are flying out of Toronto, remember the reverse: a 10 am Toronto departure in July arrives in Montego Bay around lunchtime local time.

The outbound run: Toronto to Montego Bay in winter

Leaving for Jamaica in January means leaving the house early and in the dark. Airlines generally ask for about three hours at the airport for an international departure; our how early to arrive at Pearson guide explains why, and your airline's rule wins. From Brampton or Malton, allow 15–35 minutes on clear roads; from Scarborough or Ajax, 40–70 minutes. Add 20–30 minutes in snow. Chauffeurs check Ontario 511 and Environment Canada before leaving the yard, and in a heavy storm dispatch may move your pickup earlier and tell you why. Leave the parka in the car's trunk? Only if someone is taking the car home; ours goes back to work.

Groups and family trips

Weddings in Negril, reunions in St. Ann, church trips, graduations: this route moves groups. An executive SUV takes six people and six bags; a Sprinter takes up to 14 with luggage and can drop at several addresses in one run, say Brampton first, then Malton, then Scarborough, if you give us the order. When two cars make more sense than one van, dispatch will say so. For a wedding party coming home to a reception, a stretch limousine or party bus can be arranged through vetted partner operators, priced in writing by a coordinator. See Sprinter group transportation.

When you land in a Toronto snowstorm

Winter arrivals from Jamaica sometimes meet the worst of Toronto's weather: a squall that slows the runways, de-icing queues for departing aircraft and a stand that is not ready when your plane is. You may circle, or sit on the taxiway for twenty minutes before a gate opens. None of that is your problem to manage. The dispatcher watches the live status and the chauffeur is timed to your real arrival at the gate area, not to a hopeful estimate. On the drive home in snow the chauffeur will take the route that is moving, which may be the 407 rather than the 401, with the toll already inside your fixed fare. Expect the trip to Scarborough or Ajax to take longer than usual, and do not worry about the price: it does not change.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How long is the flight from Montego Bay to Toronto?

Nonstop flights from Montego Bay (MBJ) to Toronto Pearson take roughly four hours, depending on winds and routing. After landing, allow time for border kiosks, the officer and baggage. Our fare includes 60 minutes of waiting from the actual landing time, which normally covers customs and the carousel.

Do Jamaicans need a visa to visit Canada?

Yes. As of September 2026 Jamaican citizens need a Canadian visitor visa to travel to Canada, and Jamaica is not on the list of visa-required countries eligible for an eTA. Most applicants also give biometrics. Check the current requirements on the Government of Canada website before booking travel.

Which airlines fly Montego Bay to Toronto Pearson?

Air Canada, WestJet and Air Transat fly the route nonstop. Porter Airlines announced service from 23 November 2026, and Flair Airlines is listed for the winter season. Check your booking for the operating carrier; Air Canada uses Terminal 1 and WestJet and Porter use Terminal 3.

How much is a car from Pearson to Scarborough?

A business sedan from Pearson to Scarborough is a planning figure of $145 to $175 one way, all-in before HST, including chauffeur, fuel, airport fees and gratuity. An executive SUV or luxury van for up to six passengers is roughly 25 to 30 percent more. The reservation engine shows the exact fixed fare for your address.

Can I bring Jamaican food through customs at Pearson?

Many packaged, baked and cooked foods are allowed, but you must declare all food on arrival. Fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy are the items most likely to be refused. The border officer makes the final decision, so keep food together in one bag and check CBSA and CFIA guidance before you pack.

Can the chauffeur help an elderly relative arriving from Jamaica?

Yes. Request airline wheelchair assistance when booking the flight so an agent brings your relative through customs and baggage. Tell us at booking; the chauffeur will meet the agent at the pickup area, or inside the arrivals hall if you add meet and greet, and will handle the luggage.

How early should I leave for Pearson for a winter flight to Jamaica?

Plan to reach the airport about three hours before an international departure unless your airline says otherwise. From Brampton or Malton that usually means leaving 3.5 hours before take-off; from Scarborough or Ajax, closer to four hours. In snow, add another 20 to 30 minutes.
