Istanbul to Toronto Pearson is flown nonstop daily by Turkish Airlines, a westbound flight of roughly eleven to twelve hours. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks the flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting from landing and drives you to downtown for a planning figure of $130–160 or to North York for $105–135 in a business sedan, all-in before HST. Turkish citizens need a visitor visa, not an eTA.
Istanbul to Toronto Pearson: what you are booking
Istanbul is more than a city flight. Istanbul Airport is one of the world's great connecting hubs, and the Toronto flight carries travellers who started their journey in Türkiye and many who began in the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caucasus or Africa. After that much travel, a private car with a fixed price is a simple way to finish the trip. You book online, enter the arriving flight number, and the dispatcher follows the aircraft from Istanbul. The chauffeur is positioned before landing and meets you at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area. The reservation engine's fare includes the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, airport fees, 407 tolls if used and gratuity, with HST listed on its own line. Nothing is added at the curb. For the broader service, see our Toronto airport car service page.
Airlines flying Istanbul–Toronto
As of September 2026, Turkish Airlines flies nonstop between Istanbul Airport (IST) and Toronto Pearson daily. Air Transat has also announced a twice-weekly Toronto–Istanbul nonstop and an interline partnership with Turkish Airlines; seasonal routes like this can start, pause and restart, so confirm whether it is operating on your dates. Air Canada sells Istanbul–Toronto itineraries with a connection in Europe. If you are connecting in Istanbul from another city, the only flight number we need is the one that lands at Pearson. Delays on your first leg then show up automatically in the chauffeur's timing.
Which Pearson terminal to expect
Turkish Airlines is a Star Alliance member, and at Pearson Air Canada and most Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 1, so a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul is likely to arrive there. Terminal assignments are the airport's and airlines' decision and can change, and Air Transat is not a Star Alliance airline. Check your boarding pass or airline app, or look up the flight in our Pearson terminal finder. Our Pearson Terminal 1 page explains where arriving passengers come out and where pre-booked cars wait.
Time difference and arrival times
Türkiye stays on UTC+3 all year and does not change its clocks. Toronto does, so the gap moves: Toronto is seven hours behind Istanbul from March to November, during Eastern Daylight Time, and eight hours behind in winter. Flights from Istanbul to North America typically leave in the early afternoon Istanbul time and land in Toronto in the late afternoon or evening, local time, but schedules change by season, so check yours. An evening landing tends to catch the end of the rush hour on the 427 and the 401; later arrivals see much clearer roads. The fare is fixed either way.
Entry requirements for Turkish citizens
Unlike most European passport holders on this page's sister routes, citizens of Türkiye need a visitor visa to travel to Canada, according to the Government of Canada's entry requirements by country. Türkiye is not on the list of countries whose citizens can substitute an eTA for a visa. Apply through IRCC well in advance; visa processing usually involves biometrics and can take weeks or months depending on the season. If you are connecting in Istanbul on another passport, your requirement depends on your nationality: some travellers need an eTA, others a visa. Airlines check before boarding, so sort it out before you book anything else, including the transfer.
Customs and immigration at Pearson
Visa holders arriving for the first time on a new visa may spend a little longer with the border services officer, who confirms the purpose of the visit and may issue documents on the spot for students or workers. Everyone starts at the Canada Border Services Agency kiosks or eGates; the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN can shorten that step. Declare all food, including dried meats, cheese, sweets and spices, and cash of $10,000 or more. First-time students and workers are sometimes directed to the immigration office inside the customs hall, which can add an hour or more; if that happens, message dispatch and we will adjust.

Included waiting on long-haul arrivals
International arrivals include 60 minutes of waiting from actual landing. If your flight leaves Istanbul late, the chauffeur's timing follows the flight and you pay nothing for the delay. After the included hour, waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks, and dispatch messages you before that starts. For students and new workers who expect to visit the immigration office before leaving the customs hall, tell us at booking; we can plan a longer wait from the start so there is no uncertainty on the day.
Meet & greet: recommended for first-time arrivals
The fare includes pickup at the terminal's commercial pickup area. For a first trip to Canada, especially for students, parents visiting children who study here, or anyone who does not use English every day, we recommend adding meet & greet. The chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, helps with bags and walks you to the car, so there is no need to find a pickup zone or rely on roaming data. The planning figure is $25–35. More on what it includes is on our airport meet and greet page.

Where Istanbul travellers go in the GTA
Toronto's Turkish community is spread across the GTA rather than concentrated in a single named neighbourhood, so we will not point you to a "Little Istanbul" that does not exist. The trips we drive from Istanbul flights follow the purpose of the visit. Students go to the downtown universities, to York University in North York, to McMaster in Hamilton or to the Waterloo campuses. Families visiting relatives go everywhere from Mississauga to Richmond Hill. Business travellers head to the Financial District or to Mississauga's offices near the airport. Travellers who connected in Istanbul from elsewhere follow their own communities across the city. Our North York transfers and Richmond Hill transfers pages cover two of the most common runs.
Choosing a vehicle
One or two people with a couple of bags fit a business sedan. Students arriving for a year often have two large suitcases each plus hand luggage; two students sharing a car will usually need an executive SUV or luxury van, which carries six passengers and six bags. Families and small groups fit the same class, and groups of up to 14 fit a Sprinter. For weddings and large celebrations, stretch limousines and coaches are provided by vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, with a written quote from a coordinator. Compare the classes on the fleet page.

Business travel and connections through Istanbul
Istanbul's hub role also means we meet a steady stream of business travellers who have come from cities without a direct Toronto link: engineers from Baku or Almaty, traders from the Gulf, consultants from East Africa. After two flights, a first-class sedan with a quiet cabin is worth the extra half on the fare for many of them. If a company is bringing several colleagues on the same flight, a Sprinter or two SUVs can be arranged with one booking contact, and a corporate account gives monthly invoicing. See our corporate car service page. For a series of meetings across the GTA, an hourly booking keeps the same chauffeur and vehicle with you all day.
Students arriving for a semester
A large share of late-summer and early-January arrivals from Istanbul are students. A few points save trouble. Bring your letter of introduction and acceptance letter in your hand luggage, not your checked bag. Give us the exact residence address, including the building or entrance, because many campus residences have several doors. Some residences have check-in hours; if you land late, confirm that the desk will be open or book a hotel for the first night. Parents booking for a student abroad can pay for the car and receive the chauffeur's details and the drop-off confirmation by message.
Families, children and accessibility
Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. We provide infant, convertible and booster seats on request, free or a planning figure of $10–15 each, installed before pickup. The Ontario car seat guide explains which seat suits which child. Travellers who need wheelchair help should book airline assistance with the ticket; the airline's agent brings them through customs and a meet & greet chauffeur takes over in the arrivals hall. For a ramp-equipped vehicle, see our wheelchair accessible transfers.
Winter arrivals and weather
Many Istanbul arrivals in January and February come from a mild winter into a Canadian one. Snow and freezing rain can slow the drive from Pearson, especially on the 401 and in the evening. Our chauffeurs watch Environment Canada warnings and every vehicle runs winter tires. Pack a warm coat in your hand luggage: the walk from the terminal doors to the car is short, but at minus fifteen it feels long. Traffic and weather lengthen the drive but never change the booked fare.
Onward trips and the return leg
After landing, common onward trips include Niagara Falls, a planning figure of $345–420 from Pearson in a sedan, and university towns such as Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph. For the flight home, allow at least three hours at Pearson before an international departure, and more in the busy summer and holiday seasons. The chauffeur drops you at the correct departures curb. Our how early to arrive at Pearson guide has timing by day. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10 % within 72 hours, 50 % within 48 hours and 100 % within 24 hours or for a no-show.
Practical tips from dispatch
- Check your visa or eTA status for every passport in the group before you book flights.
- Put the Istanbul–Toronto flight number in the booking, not an earlier leg.
- Buy a Canadian SIM or eSIM, or use Pearson's free Wi-Fi, so the chauffeur's message reaches you.
- Students: carry immigration letters in hand luggage and tell us the residence's check-in hours.
- Check live arrivals on the Toronto Pearson website.
