Frankfurt to Toronto Pearson is flown non-stop by Lufthansa and Air Canada, both arriving at Terminal 1, and by Condor, which typically arrives at Terminal 3. Flight time is around eight and three-quarter hours. German citizens need an eTA. A TorontoAirportTransfer.services chauffeur tracks your flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting and charges a fixed fare, about $90–120 to Mississauga or $130–160 downtown.
Frankfurt to Toronto Pearson: three airlines, two terminals
Frankfurt is Lufthansa's main hub and one of Europe's busiest connecting airports, so the passengers on a Frankfurt flight to Toronto come from all over Germany, Central Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Three airlines fly the route non-stop: Air Canada, which usually operates more than one flight a day in the busy season, Lufthansa with a daily flight, and Condor, the leisure carrier. The flight takes roughly eight hours forty minutes westbound. Air Canada and Lufthansa, as Star Alliance partners, share a joint business on transatlantic routes, so you may hold a Lufthansa ticket for a flight operated by Air Canada or the other way round.
Terminal 1 for Lufthansa and Air Canada, Terminal 3 for Condor
Both Star Alliance carriers arrive at Pearson Terminal 1, which makes life simple for most Frankfurt passengers. Condor typically uses Pearson Terminal 3 along with most other non-Star airlines. If your trip started further afield, for example in Delhi, Dubai or Johannesburg with a connection in Frankfurt, the last leg decides the terminal, and it is almost always one of these three airlines. Check the operating carrier in your booking or use our terminal finder; dispatch confirms it on the day and tells the chauffeur where to wait.
When Frankfurt flights land in Toronto
Frankfurt departures to Toronto generally leave between late morning and early afternoon, so most arrivals fall in the afternoon Toronto time. Toronto is six hours behind Frankfurt for most of the year, and five hours behind for a few weeks in spring and a week in autumn when the clock changes do not line up. For a business traveller that means landing at about 3 pm, feeling like 9 pm, and needing to be sharp for a 9 am meeting the next day. Many choose a hotel near the meeting rather than the airport, and plan an early dinner and an early night.
Entering Canada on a German passport
Germany is visa-exempt for Canada, and German citizens flying to Pearson need an Electronic Travel Authorization, applied for online through the Government of Canada's eTA page for CAN$7. The eTA is electronically linked to the passport number you enter; if you travel on a new passport or switch between two passports, make sure the one at the gate is the one approved. Passengers connecting in Frankfurt from other countries must meet the rules for their own nationality: many need a visitor visa rather than an eTA. Business visitors attending meetings generally enter as visitors; anyone coming to work in Canada should check the rules with IRCC first.

Customs at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3
Both terminals use self-serve kiosks and eGates for the customs and immigration declaration, followed by an officer where needed. The CBSA's kiosk and eGate page explains how they work, and the optional Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN, completed within 72 hours of landing, gives access to the express lanes marked in the hall. Business travellers with sample products, trade show materials or equipment should check CBSA rules for commercial goods before flying, because these are handled differently from personal belongings. German sausages, meat products and dairy must be declared. Our arriving in Canada guide walks through the hall.
The corporate traveller's pickup
Much of the Frankfurt route is business traffic, and the pickup is set up for it. Give us the flight number, the name on the passport and the destination, and the booking can be billed to a company account through our corporate programme. The chauffeur waits at the commercial pickup area of your terminal, included in the fare, or inside the arrivals hall with a name board if you add meet and greet at a planning figure of $25–35. Executive assistants can receive the confirmation and live updates, and a first-class sedan offers the quietest cabin for a call on the drive in.
Flight tracking and the 60-minute wait
The chauffeur is timed to the actual landing. Dispatch follows your aircraft from the moment it leaves the gate in Frankfurt, so a late departure or an early arrival adjusts the pickup automatically. From touchdown you have 60 minutes of included waiting to reach the customs hall, clear the kiosk and officer, collect bags and walk out. That covers most arrivals. If a busy afternoon at customs pushes you past the hour, the chauffeur waits and extra time is charged in 15-minute blocks. Message the chauffeur when you have your luggage and they will be at the curb by the time you step outside.

Where German travellers usually go
German business travellers frequently head for the corporate offices clustered around Pearson in Mississauga, the Financial District downtown, or company sites in Vaughan, Markham and further west. Ontario's manufacturing, automotive and technology sectors have long-standing links with German firms, and the drive from Pearson to many industrial parks in Peel and York Region is shorter than the drive downtown. Holidaymakers often stay downtown or in Yorkville and use the city as a base for day trips. Kitchener-Waterloo, about an hour and a half west, has a strong German heritage and a large technology sector; our Kitchener-Waterloo page covers transfers there.
Roadshows and multi-meeting days
A Frankfurt arrival is often the start of a packed schedule: a board meeting in the Financial District, a site visit in Vaughan, dinner in Yorkville. Rather than booking each leg separately, many clients take an hourly chauffeur from a three-hour minimum, with the same car and chauffeur waiting between appointments. For investor roadshows with tight timetables across the city, see our roadshows and investor meetings page. Planning figures are $130–150 an hour in a sedan and $160–190 in an SUV, and the reservation engine confirms the total before you book.

Kitchener-Waterloo and Oktoberfest
Kitchener-Waterloo's Oktoberfest is one of the best-known in North America and usually takes place in October; check the festival's official website for the dates before planning. For German visitors who want to see how Bavarian tradition travelled to Ontario, it makes an interesting evening, and the drive from Toronto takes about 75 to 100 minutes depending on the 401. A chauffeur means nobody in the party has to drive home. The same run serves the universities and the technology companies in Waterloo year-round, and planning figures from Pearson start at about $265–325 in a business sedan.
Onward trips: Niagara, Muskoka and Ottawa
For leisure visitors, Niagara Falls is the classic first excursion, about 90 minutes to two hours from Toronto; Niagara Parks publishes attraction hours. Muskoka's lakes, two to three hours north, attract German visitors who want canoeing, hiking and cottage life in summer and spectacular colour in early autumn; see the Toronto to Muskoka route. Ottawa, the capital, is about four and a half to five hours by road. Each is a fixed-fare booking, and longer tours can be quoted as hourly service.
Connecting passengers from beyond Europe
Frankfurt's role as a hub means many passengers on the Toronto flight did not start in Germany. Travellers from India, the Gulf, Africa and Eastern Europe often route through Frankfurt, and after two long flights they arrive tired and sometimes without every bag. If a bag is missing, report it at the airline's baggage desk before leaving the hall; the chauffeur waits, with time beyond the included hour billed in 15-minute blocks. Travellers on these itineraries often choose meet and greet so there is someone at the exit even if their phone has no Canadian data yet, and dispatch can pass messages to family waiting at home.
Trade fairs and conventions
German exhibitors and visitors regularly fly in for trade shows at the Toronto Congress Centre and the International Centre, both close to Pearson, and at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Enercare Centre downtown. Show weeks put heavy pressure on hotels near the airport, and taxi queues build at the venue doors at closing time. A pre-booked car avoids both. Our conventions and trade shows page explains how daily shuttles, hourly cars and Sprinter vans work for exhibitor teams, with one invoice at the end of the week and a fixed price agreed before the show opens.
Choosing a vehicle for a business arrival
Most business travellers arriving alone take a business sedan or, for a quieter cabin and more legroom, a first-class sedan such as an S-Class or 7 Series. Two or three colleagues travelling together with luggage and sample cases are more comfortable in an executive SUV. A delegation of up to 14 fits in a Sprinter, which keeps everyone together for the first meeting. For senior executives requiring discreet protection, our VIP and executive protection service can be arranged in advance. Every option is priced before you book, and the fare includes waiting at the airport as described above.
The return to Frankfurt
For the flight back, plan to be at Pearson about three hours before departure; see our guide on how early to arrive at Pearson. Lufthansa and Air Canada depart from Terminal 1, Condor typically from Terminal 3. Eastbound flights to Frankfurt usually leave in the evening, so pickups fall in the afternoon rush, and from downtown the 427 and 401 can add 20 to 40 minutes. The chauffeur calculates the pickup from your flight time and address. Travellers with a late meeting can be collected directly from the office rather than the hotel.
Money, phones and tipping for German visitors
The currency is the Canadian dollar, and card payment including contactless is accepted almost everywhere. Your transfer is paid at booking, and company accounts can be invoiced. An eSIM or Canadian prepaid SIM is often cheaper than EU roaming, which does not apply in Canada. Plugs are North American Type A and B at 120 volts, so bring an adaptor. Tipping differs from Germany, where rounding up is the norm: in Toronto, 15 to 20 per cent of the pre-tax bill is expected in restaurants. Our fixed fare already includes the chauffeur's gratuity.
