A CNE car service drops you at the Princes' Gates on the east side of Exhibition Place or the Dufferin Gate on the west, and collects you at an agreed gate when you are done. The Ex runs August 20 to September 6, 2027. From Pearson a sedan is a $130–160 planning fare; a family van or SUV is roughly 25–30 % more, all-in plus HST.
CNE car service: the Ex from the driver's seat
The Canadian National Exhibition, known to everyone in Toronto as the Ex, fills Exhibition Place for the last two and a half weeks of summer with the midway, food halls, shows and concerts. The 2026 fair has closed, and the CNE has published its 2027 dates: August 20 to September 6, 2027, finishing on Labour Day.
Getting there is the part many families dread: parking on the grounds costs $40 to $50 according to the CNE, lots fill on weekends, and the exit queue after the fireworks or a Bandshell concert can take longer than the drive home. A CNE car service from TorontoAirportTransfer.services removes all of that. The fixed fare in the reservation engine covers chauffeur, vehicle, fuel and gratuity, with HST shown separately, and the car is waiting when you leave.
The gates: Princes' Gates and Dufferin Gate
Exhibition Place has two main public entrances for the CNE. The Princes' Gates, the grand stone arch at the east end of the grounds near Strachan Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard, are the ones in every photograph. The Dufferin Gate at the west end, at the foot of Dufferin Street, is the other main entry and is close to the TTC Dufferin Gate Loop.
Our chauffeurs drop at whichever gate suits where you are going first. For the Food Building and the Enercare Centre halls, the east side is usually handier; for the midway and the west end, Dufferin Gate. On weekends and holiday Monday, police and CNE staff manage traffic around both gates, so the exact set-down point may be a short walk from the arch itself. Dispatch confirms the point in your ride notes.
Parking vs a chauffeur: the honest maths
For a family of four driving in from the suburbs, the costs add up: fuel, $40 to $50 parking, and the time spent queueing to get in and out. A round-trip chauffeured transfer costs more than that, but it buys a door-to-door ride, no hunting for a space, and nobody in the family has to drive home tired after a long day on the midway.
For groups, the numbers look better. A Sprinter van with 14 seats, booked hourly or as two transfers, divided between two or three families, costs more per person than everyone driving separately and paying for parking, but is far easier. See our Sprinter group transportation page for how group bookings work.

Transit alternatives worth knowing
The CNE itself recommends transit, and it is a good option for many visitors. GO Transit Lakeshore West trains stop at Exhibition GO station on the grounds, and the TTC serves both ends: the 511 Bathurst and 509 Harbourfront streetcars to the Exhibition Loop at the east end, and the 29 Dufferin bus and 504 King streetcar to the Dufferin Gate Loop at the west end.
Where a car makes more sense is with small children and strollers, older relatives, anyone with mobility needs, luggage on an airport day, or a late exit after a concert when trains and streetcars are packed. Many families mix the two: transit in during the quiet morning, a pre-booked car home at night.
Families: vans, child seats and strollers
The Ex is a family day out, and that shapes the vehicle you need. A luxury van or executive SUV seats six with room for a folded stroller. Child seats, whether infant, convertible or booster, are available on request; add them at booking and we fit a proper seat for every child who needs one. Read our page on child car seat transfers for how it works.
Tell dispatch the children's ages and whether you are bringing a stroller, cooler or wagon. On the way home, children are often asleep and prizes from the midway take up space, so a slightly larger vehicle than you think you need is usually the right choice.
Point-to-point or hourly for a day at the Ex
Most CNE visitors book two point-to-point transfers: one in the morning and a pre-booked pick-up at a set time in the evening, with 15 minutes of included waiting. That is the cheapest plan, provided you know roughly when you will leave.
If your day includes the Ex and then dinner elsewhere, or you want the freedom to leave whenever the children flag, an hourly chauffeur keeps the car nearby. Planning figures: sedan $130–150 per hour, SUV or van $160–190, Sprinter $225–270, each with a 3-hour minimum and all-in plus HST.
Planning fares to the CNE
These are planning figures for one-way transfers, all-in plus HST; the reservation engine quotes the exact address, date and vehicle.
| From | Business sedan | SUV / luxury van | Sprinter (14) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pearson airport | $130–160 | about $160–205 | about $285–345 |
| Mississauga or Brampton | priced by address in the engine | priced by address | priced by address |
| Downtown hotel | short hop, quoted | quoted | quoted |
| Hourly (3-h min) | $130–150/h | $160–190/h | $225–270/h |
The reservation engine prices any suburban address to the Ex directly; the Pearson bands in our rates give a good sense of distance.
Concerts, shows and late exits
The CNE programme includes evening concerts and shows, and the busiest exit of the day is when a headline act finishes. Streetcars at the Exhibition Loop and trains at Exhibition GO are full, and rideshare drivers struggle to reach the gates because of traffic control. A pre-booked pick-up avoids that, provided you agree a sensible meeting point.
We usually suggest a pick-up a few minutes' walk from the gate you exit, on a street north of the grounds, such as King Street West or Strachan north of the rail corridor, rather than at the arch itself. The chauffeur texts when parked, and the car's plate and colour are in your confirmation.
Air show weekend and Labour Day
The final days of the CNE over the Labour Day weekend are the busiest of the fair, and in recent years that weekend has also brought an air show over the waterfront, which draws its own crowds along Lake Shore Boulevard and at Ontario Place. Traffic on the Gardiner and Lake Shore near the grounds is heavy, and some ramps may be restricted.
If you are visiting on the closing weekend, book early and allow extra time both ways. Check the CNE site for the air show schedule in 2027; the timing of the flying programme affects when the heaviest traffic will hit.

Hotels near Exhibition Place
Hotel X sits on the Exhibition Place grounds, a few minutes' walk from the CNE halls. The CNE lists the Westin Harbour Castle on Queens Quay as its hotel partner; it is about ten minutes east by car along Lake Shore Boulevard outside peak times. Liberty Village, King West and the financial district have plenty of other options.
If you are flying in and staying for a few days of the Ex and the rest of the city, a Pearson transfer to your hotel and one or two chauffeured days are usually simpler than renting a car and paying downtown hotel parking every night.
School groups, camps and community groups
Summer camps, youth groups and seniors' clubs often visit the CNE as a group day trip. For 15 to 56 passengers, coaches and minibuses come through vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network; we say so plainly, and a coordinator prices the trip in writing, with driver standards and inclusions confirmed before you commit.
For groups of up to 14, our own Sprinter is the simplest choice. Send the group list and any accessibility needs with the booking, and the chauffeur will plan the drop-off at the gate with the shortest level walk.
Accessibility at the Ex
Exhibition Place is large and mostly flat, but distances between halls, the midway and the gates are long. If you use a wheelchair, book a wheelchair-accessible transfer early, because accessible vehicles are in demand in late August. The CNE publishes accessibility information on its site, including mobility-aid rentals; check it before your visit.
We plan accessible drop-offs at the gate closest to where you are heading and share the exact location in advance. Tell dispatch about mobility aids when you book so we send the right vehicle and allow extra time.
Weekday vs weekend timing
Weekday mornings are the quietest time to arrive, and the drive from Pearson or the western suburbs takes 25 to 40 minutes on the 427 and Gardiner. Weekend afternoons and the Labour Day weekend are the heaviest, when the Gardiner near the grounds slows to a crawl and the gates are busiest.
Our dispatchers route around the worst of it: on busy days a chauffeur coming from the west may leave the Gardiner early and come in along King Street, and one coming from the east may use Front Street and Strachan rather than Lake Shore.
Combining the CNE with other Exhibition Place events
Exhibition Place hosts other large events in summer, including concerts at BMO Field and, in most years, the Honda Indy street race, which has traditionally used the grounds in July. If another event is on the same day as your CNE visit, traffic is heavier and some drop-off points may move. Our Honda Indy transportation guide explains how those weekends work.
Booking lead time for the CNE
The CNE runs for 18 days, so demand is spread out, but weekends and the Labour Day finale are busy. Dispatch recommends:
- Sprinters, SUVs and group coaches for weekends: two to four weeks ahead.
- Sedans and weekday transfers: about a week ahead.
- Labour Day weekend: book as early as you can.
- Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % applies at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, and 100 % at 24 hours or less or on a no-show.
How to book your ride to the Ex
Enter your pick-up address, choose "CNE, Exhibition Place" as the destination, and note your preferred gate. The reservation engine shows the all-in fare before you confirm. Add a return pick-up time, the number of children and any child seats needed. For coaches or multiple vehicles, call dispatch and a coordinator will price it in writing.
TorontoAirportTransfer.services is not affiliated with the CNE or Exhibition Place; we are a private car service that drives visitors there.
