Windsor airport car service between Windsor International (YQG) and Toronto Pearson covers about 370 km on Highway 401, roughly three and a half to four hours. There is no published planning band for this run: it prices above the Kingston band ($675–780) and below the Ottawa band ($975–1,125) for a sedan, and the reservation engine shows the exact fixed fare before you book. Detroit Metro is about 45 minutes away.
Windsor airport car service: Toronto and Detroit from one airport
Windsor International Airport (YQG) is on Cabana Road East in the city's southeast, a few minutes from the 401 and close to three border crossings. That makes it a hinge between two travel systems: Ontario's, centred on Toronto Pearson, and Michigan's, centred on Detroit Metropolitan (DTW). TorontoAirportTransfer.services runs its own chauffeurs on both sides of that hinge: YQG to Pearson or any GTA address, and YQG or Windsor to DTW across the border. The fare is fixed and all-in, covering chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 tolls if used, airport fees and gratuity; HST is shown separately.
Planning fares for Windsor transfers
Windsor is not one of our published fare bands, so treat the figures below as guidance and let the fare calculator and the booking engine give you the exact price.

Airlines at Windsor International
The airport's website lists Air Canada, with regular service to Toronto Pearson; Porter, with regional service; WestJet, seasonally; and Air Transat and Sunwing on seasonal sun charters to destinations such as Cancun and Punta Cana. Routes change by season, so check the Windsor International Airport website and your airline booking. For ground planning, the key question is whether your trip is better started at YQG, at Pearson, or across the river at DTW, and the answer usually depends on where you are going, not where you are.
Why drive Windsor to Toronto instead of connecting
A YQG to Pearson flight is short, but it is still a connection, with check-in, security and the risk of a misconnect onto a long-haul flight. Many Windsor and Essex County travellers weigh that against a four-hour drive to a Pearson nonstop, especially families, golf and ski groups, and anyone with more bags than an economy fare allows. The car also helps when things go wrong: a cancelled evening flight to Toronto can leave you overnight in Windsor, and a car booked through dispatch gets you to Pearson for the morning departure.
Where your chauffeur meets you at YQG
YQG has a single passenger terminal at 3200 Cabana Road East. The fixed fare includes curbside pickup at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area: collect your bags, call or message the chauffeur, and the car pulls up at the agreed spot. If you would like the chauffeur inside holding a name board, choose airport meet and greet when booking (planning figure $25–35). Included waiting after the actual landing is 30 minutes for Canadian and US flights and 60 for international arrivals, then 15-minute blocks.
The 401 from Windsor to Toronto
From Cabana Road the chauffeur joins the 401 and follows it east through Essex County, past Tilbury and Chatham, around London, and on through Woodstock, Cambridge and Milton to Highway 427 or the 409 for Pearson. It is about 370 km and three and a half to four hours in good conditions; the stretch between Windsor and London is long, flat and exposed to crosswinds and blowing snow. A comfort stop at a highway service centre is built in. Live closures come from Ontario 511, and the pickup time is set against them.

Detroit Metro from Windsor: the cross-border option
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is about 45 km from downtown Windsor and a hub with far more nonstop US and international routes than Windsor. Many Windsor travellers fly from DTW, and many Toronto travellers pick it for price. Our Detroit airport transfer page covers the terminals and pickup points; the cross-border limo to the USA service explains documents. Our own chauffeurs make the crossing, so there is no change of car at the border and the fixed fare includes the bridge or tunnel toll.
Choosing the crossing: bridge or tunnel
Three crossings link Windsor and Detroit. The Ambassador Bridge carries heavy truck traffic and can queue at peak times. The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel runs from downtown to downtown and suits trips starting near the riverfront. The Gordie Howe International Bridge opened to traffic on July 27, 2026, connecting to the 401 directly. Dispatch picks the crossing on the day using the published wait times, and the chauffeur tells you which one before you leave.
Documents for crossing to Detroit
Every passenger needs valid documents to enter the United States: a passport, a NEXUS card or another document accepted by US Customs and Border Protection, plus any visa or ESTA the traveller's nationality requires. Coming back into Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency rules apply. We check the passenger list and document types at booking. If a passenger may be refused entry, tell us in advance; we cannot guarantee admission, and a refused crossing is not a reason for a refund of the driving already done.
Pearson arrivals heading to Windsor
Coming home from a long-haul flight into Pearson, the chauffeur tracks your flight, waits at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area with 60 minutes included after an international landing, and drives straight down the 401. Families returning from overseas with children and luggage often prefer this to a connecting flight to YQG late at night. Check which Pearson terminal you arrive at with the terminal finder; the Toronto Pearson airport page explains pickup at both terminals.
Choosing a vehicle for a four-hour highway run
- First-class sedan: the comfortable choice for a solo executive; quiet enough to work.
- Business sedan: the base-fare class, seating three with three suitcases.
- Executive SUV: six passengers and six bags; families and golf groups.
- Luxury van: easier access and room for car seats.
- Sprinter: up to 14 travellers for teams and company groups.
Infant, convertible and booster seats are available on request and installed before pickup; see child car seat transfers.
Business travel: automotive, logistics and the border
Windsor's economy runs on the auto industry, logistics and cross-border trade, and visiting engineers, auditors and executives often fly into Pearson or DTW and need to reach a plant or office in Windsor, or the reverse. A first-class sedan lets them work on the drive; receipts show the fixed fare and HST separately. Several travellers can sit on one account through corporate car service, and a day with meetings on both sides of the river can be priced hourly with the crossing included.

Winter along the Windsor–London stretch
The open farmland between Windsor and London is known for blowing snow and sudden whiteouts, and the 401 near Chatham can close in bad storms. Our cars are on winter tires from late fall through spring. Dispatch reads the Environment Canada forecast before a long run and moves the pickup earlier when conditions are poor. A longer drive time never raises the agreed fare. If the 401 closes, the chauffeur uses Highway 3 or Highway 2 and keeps you updated by message.
Stops on the way: London and Kitchener-Waterloo
The 401 passes London and Kitchener-Waterloo, and the car can stop in either for a second passenger or a meeting. If your journey actually starts or ends there, the London airport limo and London limousine service pages cover that city. Long-trip rules, including overnight stays and same-day returns, are on the long-distance car service page. More about the city itself is on the City of Windsor website.
Cancellation and changes
The clock runs from the booked pickup time: over 72 hours out, cancelling is free; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. A late flight is tracked, never treated as a no-show. For cross-border trips, tell dispatch about any change in passengers early so documents can be rechecked.
How to book a Windsor airport transfer
- Enter YQG or your Windsor address and the destination (Pearson, GTA address or DTW).
- Add flight number, passengers, bags, car seats and, for the US, document types.
- Select the vehicle; the engine displays the fixed fare, with HST as a separate line.
- Confirm; chauffeur details arrive before pickup.
A typical Windsor to Pearson booking, step by step
- You book with the Windsor address or YQG flight, the Toronto destination and passenger details.
- Dispatch confirms the pickup time against your flight, the forecast and the 401.
- The chauffeur arrives early, loads bags and messages when outside.
- A comfort stop is taken around London or Woodstock.
- The chauffeur chooses the 401 or 407 into the GTA on live traffic and drops at the right terminal curb.
Choosing between YQG, DTW and Pearson
For a Toronto-bound trip, the direct Air Canada flight from YQG is quickest on paper; a car to Pearson is simpler with a group, a lot of bags or a long-haul connection. For US and many international destinations, DTW often has the nonstop and the fare, and it is less than an hour from Windsor by car including the crossing. For Windsor residents, the practical question is usually which airport has the nonstop, and we can drive to any of the three. Compare fares on your airline first, then book the car that fits the flight.
Caesars Windsor, events and group travel
Concerts and events at Caesars Windsor and the WFCU Centre, auto-industry meetings and weddings in Essex County bring groups through Pearson and DTW. A Sprinter carries up to 14 passengers with luggage, and several vehicles can be coordinated on one booking. Party buses, stretch limousines and coaches for larger groups come through vetted partner operators and are priced in writing by a coordinator. For a day that mixes a Detroit game and a Windsor dinner, the hourly rate with the crossing included keeps one chauffeur with the group.
Receipts and cross-border paperwork
Each booking produces a receipt showing the fixed fare, the crossing and HST separately, with addresses and dates, which suits company expense claims and auditors travelling between Windsor and Detroit plants. Currency is Canadian dollars. If you are claiming a cancelled YQG flight from an airline or insurer, keep the cancellation notice with the receipt; we cannot promise reimbursement, but the paperwork will be complete.
