Flights from Cancun (CUN) reach Toronto Pearson in about four to four and a half hours. TorontoAirportTransfer.services tracks the flight, includes 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing and drives you home at a fixed all-in fare: roughly $100–130 to Brampton, $130–160 to downtown or $145–180 to Markham in a business sedan, plus HST. Child seats on request.
Cancun to Toronto Pearson: why a booked car beats the taxi line
The Cancun route is one of the busiest sun routes out of Toronto, and in winter the arrival banks are heavy: several flights from Mexico and the Caribbean touching down within the same hour, all of them full of families with car seats, strollers and souvenir tequila. The taxi and rideshare zones at the terminal doors feel it. A pre-booked car takes you out of that queue. You give us the flight number once; the dispatcher tracks it from Cancun; the chauffeur is timed to the real landing and waits at the pre-arranged commercial pickup area with the heater running. You walk out, load the bags, and the fare you saw when you booked is the fare you pay. No surge at midnight, no meter on a snowy 401.
Airlines on the Cancun–Toronto route
As of September 2026, nonstop Cancun–Toronto Pearson flights are operated by Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, Flair Airlines and Porter Airlines, with frequencies rising sharply from December to April. Package holidays often put you on whichever carrier the tour operator chartered, so check your booking for the operating airline. Air Canada arrives at Terminal 1; WestJet and Porter use Terminal 3. For Air Transat, Flair or a codeshare, check the Pearson terminal finder the day before you fly home. Airline sites: WestJet, Air Transat, Porter. Cancun airport's official site is casacun.com.

Planning figures, one way, all-in before HST. The reservation engine shows the fixed fare for your exact address before you confirm. A family of four with four checked bags and a stroller needs an executive SUV or a luxury van; a sedan takes three suitcases at most. Two families who travelled together can share a Sprinter van for groups.
The late-night landing, handled
Many Cancun flights land in Toronto in the evening or late at night. That is exactly when a pre-booked chauffeur matters most. Your 60 minutes of included waiting start at touchdown, which covers the walk, the kiosks and a carousel that takes a while to spin up at 11:40 pm. You will get a message with the chauffeur's name, plate and position. If the aircraft sat on the tarmac waiting for a gate, the clock does not punish you for that; the dispatcher sees it. Children who fell asleep on the plane can be carried straight into car seats already fitted in the back. And because the fare is fixed, a 1 am arrival costs the same as a 1 pm one.

The winter coat problem
Here is the classic Toronto sun-holiday mistake: you left for Cancun on a mild morning, or you left the parka at home to save a bag, and you land in a January evening at minus twelve. With a pre-booked car the exposure is the distance from the terminal doors to the curb. The chauffeur pre-warms the cabin before you come out, and in heavy snow will have cleared the car. Still, put a hoodie, socks and a toque in your carry-on; the jet bridge and the commercial pickup area are both cold. If you drove your own car to an off-airport lot on the way out, your coat may well be sitting in it, which is one more reason travellers book us for both legs and leave the car at home.
How our return pickup works for sun holidays
Book both directions in one go: the pre-dawn run to Pearson on departure day and the pickup when you come home a week later. The return leg is linked to your Cancun flight number, so if the airline delays you by three hours, the chauffeur arrives three hours later and no one bills you for the gap. If a charter is cancelled and you are moved to the next day, send the new flight number and dispatch re-times the car. On landing you receive a message; you walk to the commercial pickup area or, with the optional meet and greet, find the chauffeur inside with a name board. See how Pearson pickup areas work for the layout.
Customs after Cancun: what returning Canadians should know
Every passenger from Cancun clears Canada Border Services at Pearson. Use the kiosks or eGates, answer the declaration and, optionally, submit an Advance Declaration in ArriveCAN beforehand. After 48 hours away you can bring back up to $800 of goods duty- and tax-free, and after 24 hours $200; alcohol limits are separate, typically about 1.5 litres of wine or 1.14 litres of spirits or 24 cans of beer. Resort shop vanilla, tequila and coffee are fine within limits if you declare them. Fresh fruit and meat are where travellers get stopped. The official detail is in CBSA's I Declare guide, and our customs at Pearson guide explains the hall.
Visitors from Mexico arriving via Cancun
Cancun is also a gateway for Mexican visitors from Merida, the Yucatan and Quintana Roo heading to family or study in Ontario. Mexican citizens are visa-required, but those flying in who have held a Canadian visitor visa in the past 10 years, or who hold a valid US non-immigrant visa, can apply for an eTA instead of a visitor visa. The authoritative list is on the Canada.ca entry requirements page. Note that the eTA route covers arriving by air; a trip into the United States by road and back would need a visa. If family is collecting a relative for the first time, the meet and greet add-on puts a named chauffeur inside the hall.
Kids, car seats and the half-asleep transfer
Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one. Add the seats you need at booking: rear-facing infant, convertible, or booster. They are fitted before the car reaches Pearson, so you are not wrestling with straps at the curb while the kids cry. Bringing your own seat that you checked through to Cancun? Tell us and we will leave the space instead. The child car seat transfers page explains which seat fits which age, and Ontario's car seat guidance is the legal reference.

Timing: Cancun time and Toronto time
Quintana Roo, where Cancun sits, stays on Eastern Standard Time all year. In a Toronto winter, Cancun time and Toronto time are identical. In summer, when Ontario moves to daylight time, Cancun is one hour behind. The two most common booking errors on this route both come from that difference: travellers in July who book the pickup for the Cancun clock time, and travellers who assume the flight is "about three hours" when four and a half is closer. Put your flight number in the booking and let the dispatcher do the maths; confirmations are always in Toronto time.
The outbound run to Pearson in winter
Sun flights south often leave early in the morning. For an international departure most airlines ask you to be at the airport about three hours before take-off, and charter check-in desks close firmly; our how early to arrive at Pearson guide has the details. From Brampton or Mississauga allow 20–35 minutes to the terminal on clear roads; from Scarborough or Markham allow 40–60. In snow, add 20–30 minutes, and in a freezing-rain warning, more. Chauffeurs check Ontario 511 before leaving. A 6:30 am departure typically means a 2:45–3:15 am pickup from the east end. It feels early; it is the last hour of the day with no traffic.
Groups, weddings and girls' trips
Destination weddings in the Riviera Maya are a Toronto institution, and the return is often a group of 10 or 12 on the same flight with the same bruised luggage. A Sprinter carries up to 14 people and 14 bags and can drop at several addresses on the way home; tell us the drop order at booking. Two SUVs are sometimes cheaper than one Sprinter if the group splits east and west of the airport. For a bachelorette crowd flying out, a stretch limousine or party bus to Pearson can be arranged through vetted partner operators, priced in writing by a coordinator. See bachelor and bachelorette transport.
What to do if bags do not arrive
Lost or delayed bags are more common on busy charter days. If your suitcase does not come off the belt, go to the airline's baggage service desk inside the arrivals hall before you exit customs, and message dispatch so the chauffeur knows. Filing a report can take half an hour. Your included 60 minutes may cover it; any waiting beyond that is billed in 15-minute blocks, only as used. Take a photo of your bag tag and keep the receipt for anything you need to claim. Airlines generally deliver found bags to your home address, so you do not need to come back to Pearson for them.
Taxi, rideshare or a booked car after Cancun
Every option has its place, and it is worth being honest about them. Pearson's own taxis and limousines run from the stands at a zone-based flat rate, and rideshare pickups are at designated zones by the terminal doors; both work, and both are at their slowest when four sun flights land in the same hour. The UP Express train from Terminal 1 to Union Station is quick and cheap for a solo traveller with one bag, but not for a family with car seats heading to Brampton. A pre-booked chauffeur costs more than the cheapest option but removes the queue, the car-seat question and the midnight surge. Our limo vs Uber vs taxi vs UP Express guide sets out the trade-offs, and the flat-rate airport taxi alternative explains how our fixed fares compare.
Practical tips for the Cancun return
- Put your return flight number in the booking, not just a time.
- Keep a charged phone; the chauffeur's message arrives when you land.
- Declare the tequila and the vanilla; keep receipts handy.
- Carry-on: hoodie, socks, toque; the car is warm but the curb is not.
- Sunburnt shoulders and seat belts: pack a soft scarf.
- Planning the next trip? The travel desk books flights, hotels and all-inclusive packages.
