Kingston to Toronto airport by private car with TorontoAirportTransfer.services has a planning figure of $675–780 one way in a business sedan, all-in plus HST. The 290 km drive west on Highway 401 takes about 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes. The reservation engine prices your exact Kingston address, date and vehicle and shows the fixed fare before you book.

Kingston to Toronto airport: why people book a car

Kingston is far enough from Pearson that the choice of how to get there shapes the whole trip. The train is comfortable but ends at Union Station, not the airport. A local flight connection is possible some years and not others. Driving yourself means three hours each way plus a week of airport parking. A chauffeured car is the one option that starts at your door on Sydenham Street or in a Queen's residence and ends at the right Pearson terminal, with nothing to transfer in between.

The fixed fare in the reservation engine includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, 407 tolls when that road is used around the east of the city, airport fees and gratuity. HST is itemised separately. No meter, no surge, no extra charge if the 401 slows through Durham.

Planning fares: Kingston to Pearson

VehicleSeats / bagsKingston ↔ Pearson (one way, planning figure)
Business sedan3 / 3$675–780
First-class sedan3 / 3about $1,015–1,170
Executive SUV6 / 6about $850–1,015
Luxury van6 / 6about $850–1,015
Sprinter14 / 14about $1,485–1,720

Amherstview, Bath, Gananoque and Wolfe Island addresses are priced from the exact location. For the value calculation, remember the fare covers the whole vehicle: three travellers in a sedan pay the same as one. Compare distances on the rates page and our wider long distance car service.

The route: 401 west through the Quinte region and Durham

The chauffeur joins the 401 at Division Street, Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard or Gardiners Road and heads west past Napanee, Belleville, Trenton, Cobourg and Port Hope. Through Durham Region, dispatch decides between staying on the 401 through Oshawa, Whitby and Scarborough to the 427, or switching to the tolled Highway 407 near Clarington to bypass the city entirely and come down Highway 427 to the terminals. On a weekday that switch often saves 20 to 40 minutes, and the toll is inside the fare.

The Thousand Islands east of Kingston, a region our chauffeurs also serve for cottage and resort pickups

We plan on about 2 hours 50 minutes before 6 a.m., 3 hours 10 minutes mid-day, and up to 3.5 hours on Friday afternoons or holiday weekends. Road conditions come from Ontario 511 before each departure.

A rested chauffeur on a long run

On a six-hour round trip, the thing that matters most after the vehicle is the person driving it. Kingston runs are scheduled so the chauffeur starts fresh, and on very early departures the chauffeur may stage the night before rather than drive from Toronto at 1 a.m. to collect you. That planning is part of the fare. You get a phone call or text when the chauffeur is on the way and again on arrival.

When to leave Kingston for your flight

Airlines usually advise being at the airport around two hours ahead of a domestic flight and about three hours ahead of an international one; check yours. Add three hours of driving and a buffer:

  • 12:00 Canadian and US flight: pickup around 6:30.
  • 19:00 overseas flight on a weekday: pickup around 12:30, to reach Durham before the afternoon rush.
  • 08:00 transborder flight: pickup around 2:30; roads are clear, and some travellers prefer an airport hotel the night before instead.
  • Holiday Monday afternoons: add at least 30 minutes; the westbound 401 fills with returning cottagers.

Our how early to arrive at Pearson guide has more detail.

Arriving at Pearson and heading back to Kingston

Pearson's Terminal 1 serves Air Canada and most Star Alliance airlines, and Terminal 3 serves WestJet, Porter and many others, joined by the free Terminal Link train. Use the terminal finder if unsure. The chauffeur tracks your flight and is timed to the actual landing, with 60 minutes of waiting included on international arrivals and 30 minutes on Canadian and US. Pickup is at the pre-arranged commercial pickup area outside the terminal; meet and greet in the arrivals hall is an optional add-on at a planning figure of $25–35.

Kingston's airport: when YGK makes sense

Kingston Norman Rogers Airport (YGK) is the city's own airport, and its scheduled service has changed several times in recent years. Check the City of Kingston airport page and our Kingston YGK page for what is flying now. If a convenient flight connects you to your onward trip, it can save the long drive; we run short transfers to YGK from anywhere in the city.

Ottawa or Pearson from Kingston?

Kingston sits between two major airports. Ottawa's YOW is about 2 hours north-east via Highway 401 and Highway 416 (or Highway 15 and 7), and Pearson about 3 hours west. Ottawa is shorter and less congested; Pearson offers far more nonstop international and domestic flights, more daily frequencies and more fallback options when a flight is cancelled. For a long-haul trip, Pearson usually wins even with the extra hour. We drive to both; see our Ottawa YOW airport page.

VIA Rail from Kingston vs a private car

The VIA Rail corridor between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal stops at Kingston station, and many travellers use it. For the airport, though, the train ends at Union Station, where you change to UP Express with every bag. With luggage, children or an early flight, the car is simpler. For a trip into downtown Toronto, the train can be the right answer, and we can collect you from the Kingston station at either end. Timetables are on VIA Rail.

Queen's University, RMC and St. Lawrence College

Queen's University and St. Lawrence College bring students from around the world, and the Royal Military College brings officer cadets and their families from every province. At the start and end of each term Pearson-to-Kingston bookings spike. A pre-booked car with flight tracking takes the stress out of a first arrival in Canada; students on the same flight can share an SUV or van and one fare, and parents can book from abroad.

Business, government and medical travel

Kingston's hospitals, the university research community and nearby federal institutions produce steady business travel: specialists and researchers flying in for a few days, contractors and consultants, and executives connecting through Pearson. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing are available through corporate car service, and a booker can manage several travellers on one account.

Limousine service in Kingston, Ontario beyond the airport

Kingston has plenty of reasons to hire a car by the hour. Weddings at waterfront venues and in Prince Edward County; evenings at the Leon's Centre or the Grand Theatre; Fort Henry's summer events, listed on the fort's website; and trips into the Thousand Islands. Sedans and SUVs come from our own fleet at $130–150 and $160–190 per hour respectively, three-hour minimum, plus positioning from Toronto for local-only work; stretch limousines and party buses are supplied by partner operators and priced in writing by a coordinator. Visitor information is at Visit Kingston.

Groups: tournaments, reunions and conferences

A hockey team, a family reunion arriving from several countries, or a conference party heading to Kingston can travel together in a 14-seat Sprinter. Staggered arrivals at Pearson are often cheaper as several sedans timed to each flight. Coaches of 24 to 56 seats come from vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network; see group transportation.

Wolfe Island, Gananoque and Prince Edward County

Some of our Kingston-area pickups are not in Kingston at all. Wolfe Island residents usually meet the chauffeur on the mainland side of the ferry, because ferry waits are unpredictable in summer; tell us which crossing you plan and we will time it. Gananoque and the Thousand Islands Parkway are about 30 minutes east of the city, so the fare rises accordingly. Prince Edward County wineries and inns, around Picton and Wellington, sit south of the 401 near Belleville and are roughly the same distance from Pearson as Kingston itself; the engine prices them from the exact address.

Belleville, Napanee and Trenton on the way

Because the 401 passes straight through the Quinte region, travellers from Napanee, Belleville and Trenton, including families posted to 8 Wing Trenton, are regular customers too. These pickups come in below the Kingston band because the drive to Pearson is shorter. Two parties heading to the same flight can even share one car, with a planned stop in Belleville; ask dispatch to price the combined trip.

Winter on the eastern 401

Eastern Ontario winters bring snow off Lake Ontario and freezing rain that can glaze the 401 between Kingston and Belleville. Our cars run winter tires all season, and on a warning day from Environment Canada dispatch calls the evening before to agree an earlier pickup. If the highway closes, the chauffeur reroutes on Highway 2 and keeps you informed. With a three-hour drive, an extra 45 minutes of margin on a storm day is cheap insurance for an international connection.

Driving yourself vs a chauffeured car

Six hours of round-trip driving, a week or two of airport parking, fuel and tolls: the fixed fare each way costs more, but for many Kingston households the gap is smaller than it first looks, and nobody drives the 401 home after an overnight flight. Try the numbers on our fare calculator before you decide.

Children and car seats

Infant, convertible and booster seats are available on request at booking. Whatever the exemptions for taxis and buses, we fit the right child seat for every child who needs one; the province's car seat guide explains the stages. On a three-hour drive, a comfort stop is always available at an ONroute service centre.

Cancellation

No charge more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % at 72 hours or less; 50 % at 48 hours or less; 100 % at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, measured from the scheduled pickup. If your airline reschedules, call dispatch and we will rebook the car.

How to book

  1. Enter your Kingston address and Pearson (or YOW) in the reservation engine.
  2. Add flight details, travellers and bags.
  3. Choose the vehicle and extras; the fixed fare appears with HST shown separately.
  4. Confirm; you receive the chauffeur's contact details before the trip.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How much is a car service from Kingston to Toronto Pearson airport?

A business sedan from Kingston to Pearson has a planning figure of $675–780 one way, all-in with fuel, tolls, airport fees and gratuity, plus HST. An SUV or van is about 25–30 per cent more. Enter your address and date in the reservation engine to see the exact fixed fare before confirming.

How long is the drive from Kingston to Toronto airport?

Plan on roughly 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes for the 290 km drive on Highway 401, sometimes switching to Highway 407 through Durham to avoid Toronto traffic. Friday afternoons and holiday weekends can push it past three and a half hours, so dispatch adds a buffer.

Is it better to take the train or a car from Kingston to Pearson?

The VIA train goes to Union Station downtown, not the airport, so you would change to UP Express with your luggage. The train suits a solo traveller heading downtown. For airport trips with bags, children or early flights, a private car from your door to the terminal is simpler and often similar in cost for two or three people.

Should I fly out of Ottawa or Toronto from Kingston?

Ottawa's airport is about two hours away and Pearson about three. Ottawa is quicker to reach, but Pearson has many more nonstop international flights, more airlines and more rebooking options. For long-haul trips, Pearson usually justifies the extra hour. We drive to both airports.

Does Kingston have its own airport?

Yes, Kingston Norman Rogers Airport (YGK). Its scheduled service has changed several times in recent years, so check the City of Kingston's airport page for current flights. We run short transfers to and from YGK anywhere in the city.

Do you offer limousine service in Kingston, Ontario for weddings?

Yes. Sedans, SUVs and Sprinters for guest shuttles come from our own fleet. Stretch limousines, party buses and Rolls-Royce cars come from vetted partner operators, and wedding or multi-vehicle bookings are priced in writing by a coordinator, including the positioning of cars from Toronto.

Can Queen's University students be picked up at Pearson?

Yes. We track the flight, include 60 minutes of waiting after an international landing and drive students with luggage straight to residence or housing in Kingston. Students on the same flight can share an SUV or van and split one fare, and parents can book from abroad.

Do you pick up in Belleville or Napanee for Pearson flights?

Yes. Napanee, Belleville, Trenton and Prince Edward County are regular pickups on the 401 corridor. Because they are closer to Toronto than Kingston, the fixed fare is lower; the reservation engine prices your exact address. Two parties heading to the same flight can share a car with a planned stop, which dispatch will price for you.
