Ottawa to Toronto Pearson airport by private car with TorontoAirportTransfer.services has a planning figure of $975–1,125 one way in a business sedan, all-in plus HST. The roughly 420–450 km drive via Highway 416 and Highway 401 takes about 4 to 4.75 hours, plus a short rest stop. The reservation engine shows the exact fixed fare for your address, date and vehicle.
Ottawa to Toronto Pearson airport: who books a car for this
At first glance, driving from Ottawa to catch a flight at Pearson looks odd when the capital has its own airport. In practice it is one of our steadiest long-distance runs. Travellers book it when the nonstop they need leaves only from Toronto, when a connecting flight from Ottawa would mean a tight transfer at Pearson with checked bags, when a family of five would pay five short-haul airfares, or when a flight from Ottawa is cancelled and the long-haul departure from Pearson is still on time. A car also brings people the other way: an arrival at Pearson heading to an embassy, a ministry meeting or a family home in Kanata.
The fixed fare in the reservation engine covers the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 tolls when used near Toronto, airport fees and gratuity. HST is on a separate line.
Planning fares: Ottawa to Pearson by vehicle
| Vehicle | Seats / bags | Ottawa ↔ Pearson (one way, planning figure) |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | 3 / 3 | $975–1,125 |
| First-class sedan (S-Class, 7 Series) | 3 / 3 | about $1,465–1,690 |
| Executive SUV | 6 / 6 | about $1,225–1,465 |
| Luxury van | 6 / 6 | about $1,225–1,465 |
| Sprinter | 14 / 14 | about $2,145–2,475 |
Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans and Gatineau addresses are priced from the exact location. Divide the fare by the number of travellers and compare it with a connecting flight plus bags; for three people in a sedan, or six in an SUV, the car is often the cheaper option as well as the more reliable one. See our long distance car service and rates pages.
The route: 416 south, 401 west
From central Ottawa the chauffeur takes Highway 417 west to Highway 416, runs south past Kemptville to the 401 near Prescott, and follows the 401 west along the St. Lawrence past Brockville, Kingston, Belleville and Cobourg. Near Clarington the tolled Highway 407 usually takes over, skirting north of Toronto to Highway 427 and the Pearson terminals. An alternative, Highway 7 through Perth and Peterborough, is shorter on the map but slower in practice; dispatch uses it only if the 401 is closed. Live conditions come from Ontario 511.

Planning times: about 4 hours overnight, 4.5 hours mid-day and up to 5 hours or more if the car meets Toronto's afternoon rush, plus 15 minutes for a rest stop at an ONroute service centre on the 401.
A rested chauffeur and a planned stop
Four-plus hours is a proper drive, and it is planned as one. Chauffeurs start Ottawa runs rested, with hours of service planned so the return leg is safe too; for very early departures the chauffeur may stage in Ottawa the night before. One comfort stop is built into the timing, and more are available on request. Water and chargers are in the car, and the cabin stays quiet if you want to work or sleep.
When to leave Ottawa for your Pearson flight
Most airlines advise arriving around two hours before domestic departures and three before international ones; check your airline. Add 4.5 hours and a buffer:
- 14:00 transatlantic flight: pickup around 5:45.
- 21:30 overnight flight to Asia or Europe: pickup around 12:30, which keeps the car ahead of Toronto's afternoon traffic.
- Friday afternoon or holiday weekend: add 30–45 minutes.
- Winter storm warning on the 401: dispatch will call to agree an earlier pickup.

Pearson terminals and arrivals heading to Ottawa
Terminal 1 serves Air Canada and most Star Alliance airlines; Terminal 3 serves WestJet, Porter and many others, linked by the free Terminal Link train. Check your booking or use the terminal finder. For arrivals going to Ottawa, the chauffeur tracks the flight, includes 60 minutes of waiting after an international landing (30 Canadian and US), and meets you at the terminal's pre-arranged commercial pickup area. Meet and greet inside arrivals is an optional add-on at a planning figure of $25–35. Visitors new to Canada should read arriving in Canada at Pearson; entry rules are on the eTA page and CBSA.
Ottawa's airport, VIA Rail, and when Pearson still wins
Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International (YOW) has a solid domestic network and some US and transatlantic routes; see yow.ca and our Ottawa YOW page. Fly from YOW whenever it has the flight you need at a sensible price. Pearson wins when:
- The nonstop you want, especially to Asia, South Asia, Africa, Latin America or much of Europe, only leaves from Toronto.
- A connection at Pearson would be tight or involve rechecking bags.
- Several people are travelling and a short-haul fare for each adds up to more than one car.
- An Ottawa flight is cancelled and you still need to make a Toronto departure.
VIA Rail runs frequent trains between Ottawa and Toronto Union Station, and it is a good way to reach downtown; for Pearson you would change to UP Express with every bag. Details are on VIA Rail.
Montreal or Toronto from Ottawa?
Ottawa sits almost exactly between Canada's two biggest hubs. Montreal-Trudeau (YUL) is about two hours east, closer than Pearson, and it has a strong European network, particularly to France. Pearson has the wider global schedule overall, the biggest Air Canada and WestJet operations in the country, and more daily frequencies to most destinations. When a traveller asks us which to use, the honest answer is to compare the actual flights first and then add the ground time. We drive to both; see our Toronto to Montreal route and Montreal YUL page.
Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans and Gatineau
The Ottawa area is spread out, and the pickup point changes the fare and the time. Kanata and Stittsville in the west are closest to Highway 416, so they are marginally quicker. Barrhaven and Riverside South join the 416 directly and are similar. Orléans in the east and addresses in Gatineau, across the river in Quebec, add travel time through the core before the car heads south. Enter the exact address in the engine and the fare reflects it; for Gatineau, a vetted partner may handle a local-only booking, while long-distance runs to Pearson remain with our own chauffeurs.
Driving yourself vs a chauffeur
Nine hours of round-trip driving, plus a week of Pearson parking and a night-time drive home after a long-haul flight, is a lot to ask of anyone. For a couple or a family, the fixed fare each way often compares well once parking, fuel, tolls and a possible hotel night are counted, and the car can be a working office for the journey. Our fare calculator helps with the comparison.
Government, diplomatic and business travel
The capital generates a particular kind of trip: officials connecting to international meetings, embassy staff and visiting delegations, consultants and lobbyists shuttling to Toronto clients, and executives who want four uninterrupted hours to prepare. Chauffeurs are discreet, the car is quiet, and nothing is discussed with anyone. Accounts with monthly invoicing and a named booker are available through corporate car service, and protocol-sensitive movements are covered on our VIP delegations and consular page.
Ottawa limousine service: what we run locally
Our Ottawa work is built around long-distance travel to and from Toronto, run by our own chauffeurs. For local Ottawa bookings, such as an evening at the National Arts Centre, a wedding in the Glebe, a gala at a downtown hotel, or a day of meetings around Parliament Hill, we either position a car from Toronto (priced into the quote) or dispatch a vetted partner operator in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network to the same written standards, and we say which on the quote. Stretch limousines, party buses and coaches are always partner vehicles. Hourly planning figures are the same as in Toronto: sedan $130–150, SUV $160–190, three-hour minimum.

What we drive to in Ottawa
Regular addresses include Parliament Hill and the Parliament of Canada precinct, downtown hotels around Confederation Square and the ByWard Market, the Shaw Centre convention venue, the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, the Ottawa Hospital campuses, embassies in Sandy Hill and Rockcliffe, and the business parks of Kanata. For visitor ideas, Ottawa Tourism is the official guide, and city services are on the City of Ottawa site.
Students heading to Ottawa from Pearson
International students at the University of Ottawa, Carleton and Algonquin College sometimes fly into Pearson because the fares are better or the route is direct. A long-distance car from the arrivals curb to residence is a big trip, but for two or three students sharing an SUV, the cost per person is reasonable, and it avoids a late-night connection or a bus with heavy luggage.
Winter on the 401 and the 416
Eastern Ontario winters bring lake-effect snow near Kingston and freezing rain along the St. Lawrence. Every car runs winter tires in season, and chauffeurs check Environment Canada forecasts for the whole corridor before leaving. On a bad day we would rather leave an hour early than miss a flight, and dispatch will call the evening before to agree a new time.
Families and car seats
Infant, convertible and booster seats are available on request; add them at booking. On a four-hour trip, a family with young children is usually happier in the luxury van or SUV, with room to spread out, and we can plan a second stop for meals.
Cancellation
No charge more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % at 72 hours or less; 50 % at 48 hours or less; 100 % at 24 hours or less or a no-show, measured from the scheduled pickup time. If the airline reschedules, call dispatch and we move the car.
